Strange comments from others after weight loss!?

Has anyone received strange comments from coworkers, friends, family after losing weight?
It's great that your successes are being noticed but at least once a week I encounter the strangest comments (meant to be compliments). :-)
I'm not offended but wonder if anyone else gets any chuckle worthy comments?!?
Ex: "wow, you look so much taller now!" - man on senior leadership team at the company coffee station.

I was at a Chinese restaurant and the server kept commenting on how much younger I look than my ID, about how my ID photo looks twenty years older....6

Got a guy at work state my boobs looked more like oranges than melons. Was so gobsmake he could come out with such a statement ( luckily knew him well enough not to go running up to human resources moaning about it as some of the girls here would). Still not sure if it was a compliment of my before or after figure though.2

My sensei has told me a few times that I am a whole other shape now. I don't find it that strange. Some people tell me I am getting skinny. I know that's not true because I am still very overweight. It doesn't bother me that people notice. I would be more bothered if nobody did.5

My MIL keeps reminding me I can wear any of the clothes in her closet. Uh yeah, no thanks, not even as a reanimated corpse would I wear anything out of her closet.32

@zyxst your comment made me giggle.
For years I said to my DIL that if I ever got to her size I would love to borrow a couple of dresses- then we would laugh nicely.
Now we are the same size/body shape and try on each other's clothes all the time. We haven't loaned stuff yet, but if one finds a good source for jeans we will end up with the same size and make.
I had very few comments on my weight loss but when I went to renew my rec membership a month ago the woman looking after me took one look at the 8 yo pic and said I needed a new pic I looked much better now.

This wasn't a comment to me, but to my husband. Every year, we go to the same hotel for vacation and we see some of the same regulars who vacation the same week we do. A few weeks ago when we were there, a few of them pulled him aside and asked him "what happened" and inquired as to who his new squeeze was.30

Nothing at all but I work in engineering. We have a couple of delicate girls that run off complaining about the most trivial of things. Eg one was bragging about her forthcoming holiday and how she was buying new swimwear at weekend. Guy piped up bet you look awesome in a bikini. Then she complains about it. She was one bought up the swimwear topic.
Guy who made boobserved comment is usually quiet type which was probably why it was so unexpected.

And also fYI - women, not girls. Working in engineering doesn't mean you have to put up with inappropriate sexual comments or be considered "delicate".27 -

No one has said anything at all about my weight loss to me. Total silence on the topic. I haven't brought up the topic myself though.
I suppose that is better than when I was overweight and asked if I was pregnant with their hand on my belly.6 -
all iv had is "you look really well/great"
and at a family bbq my sister inlaws sister said "ooo you have kept all your weight off" meaning in 2014 I did loose a chunk of weight but then had a baby and only restarted in june this year and am currently down 8.4kg since the end of june.
i bumped in to my health visitor in the doctors waiting room 3 weeks ago and she said
"you look really well, have you lost weight?" i said yes around a stone" she then asked "intentionally?"
I told her "no, i put it down and cant remember where" then busrt out laughing9 -

Agreed. I don't blame that girl one bit for complaining. If it doesn't bother you, fine, but they're still inappropriate comments about someone's body. That doesn't make them "delicate girls that run off complaining about the most trivial of things". The topic of swimwear doesn't invite commentary on her body.
Anyway, back on topic- I haven't had anything too strange yet. I hate when people comment, especially since I NEVER bring up the topic myself. I don't believe it's ever appropriate to comment on someone's weight loss if they haven't brought it up themselves. For the most part people have been pretty respectful, but having been around this block before, I'm nervous about what people will say as I near my goal weight.
Usually I know people mean well and think they're being nice, so as long as they say it in a considerate manner (privately and then allow a change of conversation), I'll say a little thank you. I think the worst is the people who just don't drop the conversation, or are really loud about it when there's a lot of people around. I have a lot of canned responses for those people.9 -
My six year old occasionally tells me I look like I'm disappearing (which is funny because I've been maintaining within the same 5 lb range for about five months now). Of course, she's six. The adults in my life? Some compliments, but no really "odd" comments. Maybe I just hang out with people with good filters....4

I think that's really really awesome when someone thinks to ask that question, though- I've known people who have lost weight while undergoing chemo, because of mental health issues, drug abuse, uncontrolled diabetes, eating disorders- lots of reasons that they may not feel like sharing. That's one of the reasons why I hate when people complement without the other party bringing it up first- it's such a private struggle, and you never know what you might be reinforcing. I went to a concert last weekend and the woman checking my ID said that I lost a lot of weight in my face.... Even though I hadn't lost that much since the picture was taken.1

I've had mostly positive comments. My pastor and his wife both told me on separate occasions how proud they were of me. I thought that was kind of odd. My husband has told me that and I didn't think it odd, but it seemed odd for someone else to say. I have had a few people tell me I don't need to lose any more weight as I'm getting too skinny. And I had a neighbor tell me not to lose any more weight because I looked better with my weight on. Some people just look better heavier. That actually hurt my feelings quite a bit. For the most part I don't mind when people tell me I look good, but if you can't say something nice then I would rather not hear it.7

My cat can't speak, but she has decided that she doesn't like to lay on me as much as she used to. She walks around on my belly but it apparently isn't as soft and mushy as it used to be so I don't make as good a cat pillow now. I'll take it as a compliment!30
