Substitute for Meds? Looking for Exercise machine ?

Finally got my inhaler today to help out with my chest pain. Unfortunately due to no insurance.. My Nexium pills the doctor prescribed to me cost over a 1,000 . So I'm debating on whether to buy the generic brand at Walmart for 25 dollars or continue to take my aspirin or tylenol?? I do think it's acid building up in my chest and me working my upper body that's causing the irritation pain.It's not unbearable pain it's just the annoying come and go throughout the day pain.I so can't wait to burn this weigh off to release the pressure off my chest. Does any one know any websites that sale discount/cheap exercise machines ?? I doubt If I go to thrift store or waterfront mission they would have a bike that I can use for my size. Let me know

I don't see why you couldn't try the generic meds. Maybe check Craigslist for the machines...1

Unbearable pain not due to acid build up is making me wonder, why the doctor put you on Nexium (which is for heart burn/ GERD as far as I know). But hey I'm not a doctor and no one here is. Generics are the way to go. Generics are exactly identical to the brand, just cheaper. Don't drop any meds that you think or the doctor feels that you should be on without consulting your doctor first.
You can also consult your local pharmacy regarding your medications. They should help you.
It's almost time for the holidays so they're probably going to be some discounted exercise machines available soon. I'd also check out Amazon (love that the site has reviews from purchaser, it beats salesmen trying to suck your wallet dry). I bought my machine at Sears but I don't remember how much it was (I think the machine is probably more than 10 years old now). I usually look through major retail stores before I make a purchase.0 -

A wise man (My Uncle) always told me to invest in yourself before you invest into anything else.Me walking or doing cardio exercise without the gym is showing me investing in myself. As of right now which is beginning of this journey I'm more likely to go outside and walk an hour as oppose to go catch the bus and head to a gym.So to answer your question I'm simply crawling before I start walking1 -

I never the pain was unbearable ..I said it wasn't irritating not unbearable. I will by the generic meds and as for the exercise machine.I will postpone on that and continue to do cardio and walk around block for a hour. Thanks for the advice0 -
Just wanted to second going the generic route. When my doctor treated me for gerd she gave me a nexium prescription but told me to get otc if insurance didn't cover it because it's so much less expensive. Best of luck! I found I was able to stop taking the nexium when I lost some weight and took a little pressure off my stomach. And agree ebay and ciaigs list are great places to look for exercise equipment.1

My GERD went away with weight loss but it looks like you've got quite a bit to loose. Ask your doctor if s/he will perscribe "generic OK"? If s/he isn't in some kind of kickback scheme you'll probably get a yes to that.
If you are still over 300 pounds walking and getting up and down (from the floor if you can, from a bench if you can't) might actually be enough for the time being. People underestimate the power of getting up off the floor as a full body metabolism exercise and go sit in a machine in a gym instead. If you are very obese you won't be able to do all of >>>this<<< but it is something to work toward because it's more important than anything you will find in a fitness center full of machines.
My big issue is portion size control. I want to eat like I did as a young Marine (fast and lots) but at age 66 that really doesn't work for me. If you can make it a habit to eat slow and stopping when no longer hungry, rather that wolfing it down and stopping when uncomfortably full you'll have a long term sustainable tool to work your weight down.
The big thing to remember is that best is the enemy of better. Don't let a lofty goal discourage you. Better over time is what gets you there.2
