@ Lasmartchika I wish too!
I think I've done enough sugar festing to last me a life time haha!0 -
Nice Wake Up Call! Seriously... who'd have thunk I'd ever get used to not putting something sweet in my coffee. I have through the years tried pretty much every way known to man to make a coffee without added sugar and like it. The closest thing so far was local honey. I figured that at least that was a little healthier. Anyway... With this Challenge I've gone ahead and just drank it with a little cream only because I really didn't want to put chemicals in it. This morning I woke up and realized I actually liked my coffee with just cream. Yea!!! This might not seem like a big accomplishment but to me its HUGE! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!3

Soooo day 4 wasn't too bad at all. I'm more worried about the weekend as its easier to control eating habits in my structured week, but weekends and socialising can be difficult. Will try my best not to break it!! Have a great weekend everyone!!1

We can do this!!! I took a long nap today so I really didn't have any problems today... Had a blahh day but not due to sugar cravings... I had two great moments today... One I posted earlier and The second was in bringing home one of my favorite salads from a local restaurant. I only worked half a day so I got my salad to go. When I got it home I noticed they had put a small brownie in with it "Free Brownie Friday". I forgot about that and so here I was alone with probably my MOST favorite of desserts... Lol. What to do? It's just a small little thing...no one would know and I really really wanted it! I could save it for my husband but he's not much on Brownies. I could throw it away... Heaven Forbid!!! Lol. There was only one other option for now... I took it out and wrapped it up to put in the freezer. After this month is up if I still really really want it then I'll eat it. I will have earned it then. But not till then! I committed to this Challenge and I'm going to do it!4

That's fantastic that you put it in the freezer. I can imagine that took serious will power! This is as much about as getting healthier as making our will power stronger!1

Day 5: Done! No problems today!2

What a wonderful idea!
We ALWAYS have sugary treats at work and I'm horrible at saying no, too.
I'd love to join this challenge if it isn't too late!1 -
Hey munchkinhugs! Welcome!!!
It's definitely not too late to join. It's day 6 (Sunday) but you can just jump on board. We are not eating any added processed sugars for the rest of October. I'm eating fruit as its good for me but no alcohol or sweeties etc!
Feel free to post on here to let us know how you are doing, or if you need some support!
Good luck, you can do it!!!
In fairness I'm finding it easier than I thought so far because my mind has just accepted that sugar is not an option. Let's see if I'm still saying this in a week haha!

The original South Beach Diet book (and the Supercharged book) has good information on added sugar and how and why it should be limited.
I reduced my sugar intake about 14 years ago and eventually read SBD (when it came out). It was helpful information.1 -
Thanks sabine_stroehm!0

Ta ChaleGirl!
I'd like to put it out there that the first six days of Oct were horrible for me. But today, my first day in this challenge, has been a success so far.
We had our fortnightly team meeting this morning. My wonderful manager (who is blessed with an eternally slender figure) bought the team a mix of cookies so we would be able to sit though the whole meeting.
I DID NOT EAT ANY!
Instead, I snacked on walnuts and blueberries. Mainly because I knew I'd feel bad if I couldn't even do one day without processed sugar!
Thanks guys2 -
So glad to hear that! Well done!
Tonight will be day 7 for me. I've really tried. My food choices haven't always been perfect but they've been better and I've stayed clear of the processed sugar. Bring on the next 7 days!! I have to say I'm feeling less sluggish already and really looking forward to feeling more and more energetic and healthy!!1 -

Day 7 for me. No trouble today. So far so good!!!0

I'm a little late but would like to join in - thanks for the inspiration! So are you all excluding just sweets or also things like granola?1
-
Hey ALK150! It's never too late to get started. Ive cut out everything with sugar as an added ingredient so sweets, ketchup, anything that has sugar. I was horrified to see sugar as an ingredient in my veggie sausages.
Welcome! And good luck!!!!0 -
Day 8... Each day gets easier...its only day 8 and I really don't think about it anymore. I'm especially impressed that I no longer crave that afternoon sweet at work. I'm hoping that after this month is over, and I do have a sweet, that this has showed me that I can control those cravings and make it just that... An occasional sweet.1
-
Yay @ spears! Well done!
Just shows that it can be part of a lifestyle.
Day 8 was a success for me too!
I'm so glad we are actually doing this and I can't wait to get to the end of the month and see how we feel. I too hope that I can just have the occasional sweet thing after this. Although depending on how I feel I might keep going! But let's see! One step at a time.
Have a fab sugar free day 9!!!1 -
Day 9... the only thing that I did right was this Challenge... Rough day but not for the Sugar Fast... Nailed it!
