Age 50. RHR about mid 50's, down from high 90's in a year. Athlete..... sniggering behind my screen. No chance.....0

High 50s last time I measured which according to this makes me an athlete
Which is laughable
Heart rate really doesn't have much of anything to do with those categories. According to this I'm younger than 18yo athlete... which aside from obviously being wrong, the generalization that younger = lower heart rate is also wrong since children typically have higher heart rates than adults...0 -
Last two weeks it's been as low as "40" all night long. I'm 46 but i have been biking 400-900 hours a year for the past 11 years...ran and swam 4/5 of those years also0

I'm a 53 year old man with a resting heart rate of 43. 7:25 mile, which is WAY off of my goal time of 6:00. I can't help but wonder whether there's more to the story than what's in that chart. Otherwise I would be more fit than I actually am.0
