Hey all, I'm trying to make up a new workout playlist. What's on yours that makes you push harder and faster? To give you an idea of mine, I just added the LMFAO song ("Party Rock," I think it's called?) and some Taio Cruz. Let me know what's on yours!

I have a bunch from old disco to new stuff. My kids were listening to it the other day and said that I had a great mix of music. Not too shabby coming from a couple of teens.0 -

Depends on my mood really.
Lately it's been a mix of Marilyn Manson. ;D
But classical, oldies, rock, etc...just about anything as long as I'm in the right mood.0 -
In going through a lot of the songs I've had on workout playlists before, I notice a theme. I tend to pick songs that reference being (or make me feel) "sexy." Haha. I suppose that's as good of motivation as anything, right?!0

For cardio, if I want to just pore sweat, it's Offspring all the way. I swear I can smell smoke coming from the elliptical when I'm rocking out to them! And my heart rate shoots thru the roof! I will listen to some Nickleback for cardio, too.
Cool down is Kings of Leon, Joss Stone, Silversun Pickups. A little old skool Violent Femmes to a point.0 -
LOTS of Slipknot... Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Evanescence, Skillet, Stone Sour (not the soft stuff), Otep, 5FDP, Saliva, Crystal Method, Staind (not the soft stuff), Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie/White Zombie, Dropkick Murphys, and a few local bands like, Monoxide Project, Smoke Out Johnny. But let me tell you, when I'm wanting to be whiney, give up and go home, nothing says "get out there and gut the4 f**k through it" like some Slipknot. Cool down with Thelonnious Monk, Glenn Miller, Staind (the soft stuff) Dave Brubeck, Peter Gabriel, Simon and Garfunkel, Tori Amos, and (oddly) Alanis Morisette, Stone Sour (the soft stuff), NIrvana.0

Damn! What's your HR when working out to this? 250? Whew! I'm impressed! I'd kill myself ...0
-
Techno to Hard Rock. If it makes me wake up...all the better. Favorite bands for working out are Rage Against the Machine, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Tool....0
-
Lol, Kimby, it does get up there into the higher reaches, I'll admit.
It's also great for mowing the lawn. And everyone else's in the neighborhood. HOO-AAHH!!!! ;-)0 -
So, I feel out of place because my choice of genre is very different. I decided to share anyway.
As you probably guessed, I listen to gospel music 90% of the time. When I was small child, I lost my mother in a tragic event and gospel music saved my life- it kept me from becoming an angry, miserable child. Today, I still cling to it especially when I need a lift. When I listen to these songs I go into a zone on my treadmill and it's a pleasant place. I feel like I want to keep running forever! Often times, my heart rate will go up to 170 or more and I have to remind myself to chill and get it back down to 150 or something. It's hard for me to go into cooldown mode too. Here is my top 12 followed by some secular music but also excellent for running in addition to some cooldown tunes:
The Lord is Blessing Me -Bishop Larry Trotter
God is Good -Bishop Paul Morton
Praise Break - Donald Lawrence
Sunday Morning Medley - Georgia Mass Choir
Tell It - Geeorgia Mass Choir
Oh How Precious- Kathy Taylor
My Time for God's Favor -Kurt Carr
There is None Like Him - Mississippi Mass Choir
We've Come a Long Way - Rev. Dwayne Mason
It's No Secret - Rev. Dwayne Mason
Thank Him - Rev. Dwayne Mason
Glory, Glory Hallelujah -Rev. Dwayne Mason
Not Gospel, but good anyway:
Funk the Drums - The Bongo Man
Watusi Warrior Drums - Van Kampen ***This one is intense***
Doing It to Death - Fred Weslely
Forever My Lady - Jodeci ***Cool Down***
What Kind of Man Would I Be -Mint Condition***Cool Down***0 -
Right now my favorites are...
Get Closer- Life in Film

Upside Down- Paloma Faith
Spit At Stars- Jack Penate
Torn on the Platform- Jack Penate

Big Bang 2- Chameleon Circuit
What's Wrong?- Blue Skies
Comeback Kid- B. Reith
Here Comes My Baby- Sons of Admirals
Mr. Pitiful- Matt Costa
Darling Buds of May- Viva Brother

I also definitely find inspiration in songs that talk attractive girls! A lot of these songs are popular Hip hop songs which defintley gets my feet moving and confidence up when I am out for a run! If you like LMFAO I think you will enjoy a lot of these!0
