Day 6... Done! Wasn't hard today because i was sick and slept a lot of the day0

Ta ChaleGirl!
I'd like to put it out there that the first six days of Oct were horrible for me. But today, my first day in this challenge, has been a success so far.
We had our fortnightly team meeting this morning. My wonderful manager (who is blessed with an eternally slender figure) bought the team a mix of cookies so we would be able to sit though the whole meeting.
I DID NOT EAT ANY!
Instead, I snacked on walnuts and blueberries. Mainly because I knew I'd feel bad if I couldn't even do one day without processed sugar!
Thanks guys2 -
So glad to hear that! Well done!
Tonight will be day 7 for me. I've really tried. My food choices haven't always been perfect but they've been better and I've stayed clear of the processed sugar. Bring on the next 7 days!! I have to say I'm feeling less sluggish already and really looking forward to feeling more and more energetic and healthy!!1 -

Day 7 for me. No trouble today. So far so good!!!0
-
I'm a little late but would like to join in - thanks for the inspiration! So are you all excluding just sweets or also things like granola?1
-
Hey ALK150! It's never too late to get started. Ive cut out everything with sugar as an added ingredient so sweets, ketchup, anything that has sugar. I was horrified to see sugar as an ingredient in my veggie sausages.
Welcome! And good luck!!!!0 -
Day 8... Each day gets easier...its only day 8 and I really don't think about it anymore. I'm especially impressed that I no longer crave that afternoon sweet at work. I'm hoping that after this month is over, and I do have a sweet, that this has showed me that I can control those cravings and make it just that... An occasional sweet.1
-
Yay @ spears! Well done!
Just shows that it can be part of a lifestyle.
Day 8 was a success for me too!
I'm so glad we are actually doing this and I can't wait to get to the end of the month and see how we feel. I too hope that I can just have the occasional sweet thing after this. Although depending on how I feel I might keep going! But let's see! One step at a time.
Have a fab sugar free day 9!!!1 -
Day 9... the only thing that I did right was this Challenge... Rough day but not for the Sugar Fast... Nailed it!

Fantastic! I was fine too. Went to a work event and didn't even touch the canapés or wine #winning
Have you noticed any differences health wise since starting this?1 -
Hey guys, do you mind if I join you? I never used to be a sugar eater but as I'm getting older I've started craving sweet things! I'm sure as well it's because sugar is steadily creeping into so many savoury foods in the supermarkets and it is such an addictive ingredient!2

Day 10 of Sugar Fast Done! Had a moment this morning. My Coffee tasted bitter so I decided a really really small amt of honey would help. I went so far as to put the honey in my coffee and take a small sip. As soon as I tasted it I realized 2 things. 1) it didn't help the bitterness lol. 2). One of my MFP friends had mentioned in a comment to me a few days earlier that she was happy for me and regretted she had never made it past 2 weeks. It hit me then that I wasn't far from that 2 week period and maybe at this point in time I will have my own little battle of cravings...especially since I've had very little this whole time. So.... I stepped away from the Honey! The rest of the day was a breeze!0

Of course you can join us @Hedgiemum! Welcome! Feel free to post any time you need motivation or to tell us how you are doing! I'm finding it ok so far. Just hoping this feeling continues. I've notice that it's much easier to do when I'm meal prepping and taking my food to work. Good luck!!2

Day 11... Nailed it!1

Brilliant! Me too!
We are actually doing it - yay!
Day 12 let's see how we do!1 -

Thankyou and yes I agree with you on the food prepping. I made a batch of chilli and curry yesterday which I put in individual containers. Some in the and some in the freezer. Tomorrow I'm going to make soup yum! You are all doing so well. Have you found your cravings getting less over time?0 -
I'm sorry I'm so late on this, guys, but is it too late to join?! The month is half way over, but even half a month of no added sugar would be so good! Are y'all adding stevia to anything, out of curiousity?1

Day 12... done! made it!1

Hi, I hope I can join. I have not had sugar in two whole days which is huge for me. No crazy cravings. I still have not giving up creamer in my coffee yet! Any good snacking ideas?1
-
In fairness I have found my cravings getting less and less. I was socialising a lot yesterday but still didn't touch sugar!
I am eating fruit so if I really need something I'll try to grab some grapes or raisins as they are sweet but natural.
I'm not adding stevia or any artificial sweetners to anything. I must say as well that the more you stay away from artificial sweetners, the more food starts to taste sweet. So like fruit and veg etc.
I agree @kendallhouse4312 even a week of cutting back on actual sugar is a good thing for your body! I'm feeling much less sluggish since starting this, although that may be my mind playing tricks on me haha!2 -
Also to add, I haven't had any alcohol in about 2 weeks and that is MAJOR for me as even my work events have lots of alcohol but I've steered clear. I'm not going to pretend it's easy but my liver is probably thanking me for the respite! I'm just telling myself that alcohol will always be there but because of the sugar I'm not having it right now!2

Good Morning - I would love to join you for the rest of October. Great challenge for me! I feel so much better when I am not eating sugar and processed food. Have a great day and I'll check in tomorrow.3
-
I'm not new to mfp but this is the first time I've looked into the community part of the app. I would love to join this challenge. As of the 10th I have been sugar free! I have always been a sweet not salty person and this challenge has been hard.
Yesterday was extremely hard because I had to attend me nieces birthday party and the cake looked AMAZING... I almost caved but I didn't.
The sad thing is I'm not even proud that I didn't. I'm somehow upset with myself for not eating it. I find this way strange. Has anyone else had this adverse feeling when they stick to their goal?1 -
Day 13... made it! I agree with you ChaleGirl. I haven't been doing the fruits but have had a little bit and i mean very little... sweet n low. I have found that its better taste wise to avoid it altogether so I am. I too feel less sluggish. I haven't had the feelings you've had kattastrophe11 but i have felt sad that I couldn't have something that i really wanted and even after that time is up I still feel sad i didn't get to taste it... but proud I didn't at the same time. Its a process for sure!

Can I join this late? If love to be sugar free rest of October 2016. Is Stevia leaf allowed as sugar replacement ? How often do we post? Daily? Thanks!!2
-
Completely up to you if you want to have stevia @sabshane and of course you can join late. I personally am staying away from sweetners!
Post whenever you feel like you need some motivation or to confirm how your day has been!
It's morning of day 14 for me now. I feel like once you get into the swing of it, it just feels like a normal habit. A friend practically tried to force some sweets on me yesterday (she didn't know I was off sugar), but I still didn't take them. My mind is made up now. I would have definitely taken them before!
Mind over matter!!!1 -
On a sep note, I had a very random dream that I was in a bake off and ate some cake. I woke up thinking I had failed the challenge haha. Think it was because the great British bake off was on yesterday. I watched a good documentary last night on sugar. It was on you tube, will post the name later!
Have a fab sugar free day everyone!!!!2 -
Day 3! Never been without sugar for this long!2
-
I feel like I'm in need of some motivation today. There's Krispy Kremes and Lola's Cupcakes in the office plus I have book club with the girls this evening in a bar with lots of temptations. Can people post some reasons why we should stay clear of the white stuff, to help me realign my brain please lol!?!?0
