I want to lose 100lbs

Hey! I am on a journey to lose 100 lbs by this time next year! I'm 30 years old and have a 10 month old son. I have to be an example for him so he doesn't grow up like and be big his whole life. I need to teach him a healthy lifestyle. I would love friends that are on a similar journey.

Hello! I am also on a journey to lose 100lbs! I started in March and I have lost 60lbs so far. It has definitely been a bumpy road, but worth every bump! I have 40lbs to go. Feel free to add me5

YAYYYY! I live to see bug goals like this! I'm on a 93 pound journey, and I found it difficult to find 100ish pounders when I started last year. I'm 73 pounds in and feeling AH-MAZING!! My advice, because I wish someone had told me this, is to make small goals, break it up into achievable and attainable chunks. How much do you want to lose each week, and each month, for a 3 month time. It's waaaaay easier to lose 10 pounds when you have 100 to lose, than when you have 20 to lose (like me now). I was losing 8-12 pounds a month to start, but if I did that now it would be sooooo unhealthy. So just don't get married to the time limit of a year. Your end goal of 100 pounds is great, but I'd say reassess time goals every 3 months. (I lost my first 50 pounds easy peasy. The 10 after that was trickier, the 10 after that even trickier, and now this last 20 is proving very difficult. BUT instead of being dejected and frustrated, I'm calling it what it is--a normal part if the process. If I had reached my year time limit and been mad and down on myself for not reaching my 93 pounds, I'd have probably gained 20 back. As it is, I'm steadily losing half a pound a week instead of putting any back on! It's a lifestyle change, not a diet! When I hit my maintenance weight, I want to be able to shift into maintenance easily becomeive been almost maintaining to even get there. Anyway, I could go in and on and on, lol. I love this topic! Best advice I can give is to set small goals (they add up!), try to make better choices, forgive yourself when you slip, and find any exercise you can do and try to do it regularly. Challenge yourself when that exercise starts feeling too easy. Baby steps and you got it!2

Great advice above about setting small goals. Make sure you celebrate the small wins. And be ready to learn a lot. What you think you know now about yourself, your habits, what works for you will probably change over time. Learn from those little discoveries to either make adjustments in what your're doing, or keep going strong!1 -

Hey! I have about 130lbs to lose. I am two years off of my 40th birthday and I really need to do this now because I am noticing aches and pains where I never had them before. My back is starting to hurt and I know carrying around this extra weight is the reason why. I could really do with more friends who have their food diaries open to friends as I love to get new ideas for what to eat! I love food and while I used to binge eat I have (mostly) got that under control now, however, I just love big portions of all the bad stuff, so trying to get that under control is tricky. I lost about this amount 12 years ago on weight watchers, but regained all but about 20lbs of it within 3-4 years, so this is about the long term too.

I want to lose 150lbs. I just got out of a really unhealthy relationship and I'm super motivated to change my life for the better. I am a single mom and I work 12 hour shifts so it's hard to fit in good workouts but I'm figuring that out. I am taking baby steps and cutting out all negativity from my life. I'm so excited to start this journey. I'm pumped!!!!!1

I lost 105 pounds. It took a year. Don't be in a rush, and don't try to out-exercise a bad diet. Learn how to eat at a slight deficit (or even at maintenance) for a few weeks. Give it time. I know that sounds awful, but time will pass anyway. A year from now, you could be at goal. You can do it :-)2

Oh, man, if I set a target like that I'd be scared of failure. I'm 9 months in, 83 lb down, and soooo close to being on target for 100 lb in 12 months. The pressure would be awful. I'd rather just take it one day at a time.1

I am on a 100+ lb journey. I started at 249 and am down to 168. My goal is 135. It has taken me over 14 months. I feel great. In looking back, I would say to set small goals, like first 10%. That is what motivated me more than anything.Also reassess your goals every 3 months. Don't set to unrealstic of long term goal like I need to do this in 1 year. When I came up on 1 year and I hadn't made 100 lbs It made me feel terrible. So now I set goals for every 6 weeks.
Also find a time to exercise and keep it consistent, my time is at 5:30 am. Nothing else gets in the way. On the weekends it is 8am.2 -

OH MY GOODNESS! That was totally a typo! I started LAST year, 2015. Frankly, I've been in a plateau for the last month-ish. Granted I changed my workout routine (added weights) and I expected a little slow down as a result, but I'm frustrated with the stagnant scale. Hopefully I'll have a breakthrough and start losing again soon. Meanwhile, I'm happy I'm not gaining. I'm also thrilled that my body can do more than I thought it could do (push-up anyone? survive a cardio-strength class? YES! and YES!) Eyes on the prize.1 -

I could never keep a set time to exercise each day. I do have a weekly goal for exercise, and that works for me. I also enjoy the freedom to change what I do for exercise from day to day. It keeps it interesting and helps it not feel like such a slog.1 -

Do you adhere to any specific diet — or just follow the basic calorie guidelines? Do you eat your exercise calories? What exercise do you do at 5:30?
Any insights really appreciated!

I wasn't on a goal to lose 100 lbs.... but I lost 75 lbs last year in just under 6 months and I've managed to maintain that the past year. Now want to lose the next 15-25. It is not easy especially when you have health issues that prevent exercising, but I strongly believe diet is the key to 90% of weight loss.
While it probably goes against everything that most people do, I managed that loss through eating vegan, not drinking and slowly working in exercise in the pool. I find it so much easier to keep a caloric deficit when not eating meat and dairy products.
