Do they actually work, and if so, what strength?

In part:...However, human studies on CLA are very unreliable and the overall effects seen with CLA are not overly potent as well as sometimes contradicting. CLA is a good research standard to investigated fatty acids and the PPAR system, but its usage as a supplement for personal goals is quite lacklustre.1 -
I take CLA every day. I do believe it has helped me to bring down my body fat %, but that's just me. It's the only supplement besides fish oil that I take that isn't a vitamin. I take roughly 2000mg (2 x 1000mg caps) each morning, and 2 more before bed. I also drink BCAA's after my workout that contain aproximately another 500mg of CLA in them. Been taking it along with Fish Oil for over a year. I'm down to 12% body fat, possibly a bit less, and since I'm at maintenance calories and still losing body fat slowly I'd say it's helping. But that's just an opinion, no real scientific data to back it up, so your mileage may vary. I buy it when I get a good deal on it, and when I run out I take my time re-ordering it because it's not a necessity like I believe fish oil is, so there you have it.2

Thanks for the info, I'm on 6000mg per day, 2000mg each meal time. I'm losing fat steadily and consistently, but not sure if the CLA is helping or not1

Like I said, I believe it helps with fat loss. No scientific evidence to back that up, but it works for me. And 6g per day seems to be standard. You might want to read up on some possible side effects, which is why I stay around 4500mg per day on average, but I've noticed no issues at that amount.

There is no scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of CLA on body fat reduction, but that doesn't stop people using it and swearing by it.2
