TWD Discussion.

I like Rick. But....

1. Why did he insist on getting the walkers out of quarry? Could he have instead drove another semi or build a wall structure?

How come no one in Alexandria has brought that up?

2. Has Rick gone off the rails? Too many examples to list.

3. I get that Carl loves Michonne. Rick, Michonne and Carl are a real family, and they've been building up that dynamic for a few seasons. But the Richonne dynamic was so subtle that it surprised both of them. I would have preferred at least a bit of romantic effort on Rick's part. Granted, they've both saved each other's lives several times. But Richonne brought the baby formula and saved Carl after two of Rick's plans went south (the bait the walkers and herd them like cattle plan and the walk right in the middle of them plan). Is she more invested than he is?

4. We've seen Carl go from child to teen. What's going on with Judith? Is it just me or why is she still a baby? Does the show recogize they have three alternative timelines going on? (TWD time, Carl growth spurt time and Judith, how is she still a baby time)?

5. Not on my list - how he really makes an attempt to pronounce Carl: "Coral, Caol, Caawl, you know what your name is!"

Rick is broken now. I don't like to see that. It was my theory that in TWD always listen to Rick. Hopefully he'll regain his senses in the next couple episodes.

I don't think Rick is broken. He is in shock and mourning. He was protecting his group. Fairly sure Rick will eventually become the victor between him and Negan.

If you follow the comic, you know how it will end up. What I don't know is how they will get to that point in the show.

So does Rick become the victor?
I know eventually Rick dies and Carl becomes a real leader, but in the intermediate time, does Rick regain his personal sense of power?

FYI, I don't follow the comic, but it is hard to not hear in the media from people that do.

Rick is still alive. And yes, Rick is the victor... but there is a catch.

I need a therapist after last night's episode. I had to look away during the ax scene. I was for sure someone was going to get shot and I can handle people being beaten into a bloody pulp, but for some reason an expected shot gives me too much anxiety.

It really didn't hit me until they were left alone and Maggie starts to stand up and walk towards Glenn. Talk about punch in the gut.
I know what the comics say, but I can't imagine the show would survive with Carl as lead and Rick dead. I think they would end the series before doing that.

I thought he was going to cut off his own hand instead. That episode was an emotional mess.

    The comics don't say....
that Rick dies. Where are you getting that from?

every time I see Rick I just want to give him a bar of soap and a bucket of water. He's so gross and sweaty almost all the time.

Can you imagine the smells of living during that time? Undead, unwashed, no deodorant, etc.

I said almost that exact same thing to my kid Saturday while we were eating dinner and watching the marathon. I was like "no effin' way I'd survive with everyone smelling that bad!"

because the actor has aged 6 or 7 years since the show started, but in the TWD universe only about 2 years has passed

I thought the same thing when that happened.. They basically had this perfect tool at their disposal, a quarry that was capable of attracting and holding walkers from all over the area. Why didn't they devise a way to either contain them there for good, or kill them en masse? Not only would I have tried to kill them all within the quarry, I would have tried to use it repeatedly to exterminate walkers..

yeah...because Lori got pregnant in season 1, but Judith wasn't born until season 3.

The quarry was going to fail eventually since it kept filling. They may have been able to come up with a better plan, but there really was no good solution.

Most of it is really lazy storytelling. Not to mention several scenes are unnecessarily gruesome. Trying to keep the teen boy crowd with TWD gore, they might lose the TWD as soap opera crowd.
