Struggling!

Guys I need your help. Last time I weighed myself I was 11 stone 7 (161lb) I am 163cm 5 foot 4 tall. i have been eating quite low in calories 1330 to lose a lb. This is quite low. I bought a fitbit charge to stop me being sedentary but the fact is I just dont have motivation some days whereas other days I'll be busy and getting 10 000 but that still isn't enough calories because all i want to do is stuff my face. I was wondering if you guys can give me some advice because I can't keep going on like this.

Don't try to change too much at once. Drink more water and focus on quality, high-nutrition foods that contain enough protein and fat to keep you satisfied. Keep close track of what you eat and how you feel and find out what works for you.

Shift your focus to your health instead of just the number on the scale. Keep track of your measurements, too because sometimes your body shape will change but it won't necessarily show up on the scale.

Read through the success stories here. Lots of good information and helpful advice.

If you open your diary we can have a look and see where you could perhaps make tweaks to feel more satisfied. Food choices can make a huge difference.

Full fat, protein, fiber and water keep me full. Also you need 7-8 hrs of sleep to help curb hunger.

Are you actually tummy-rumbling hungry or do you just want to eat? There's a huge difference between the two and how to help.

If you're always actually hungry then eat smaller meals more often and make sure you aren't only eating simple carbs that digest quickly and leave you hungry soon after. Add more protein, fat and fiber to your diet instead. Also make sure you aren't being too restrictive with your calorie goal. It's better to lose a little more slowly than be miserable and eventually give up.

If you just want to eat then try to find things to do to distract yourself. I struggle with this one myself. The worst is when I'm sitting and watching TV. I've started playing casino games on my tablet while I'm watching TV and it helps. It keeps my hands busy but doesn't require much of my mind so I can keep focused on the show I'm watching. I always keep a glass of water at hand, too. When the urge hits, take a walk or go brush your teeth. Chewing gum can also help. Or take up knitting or cross stitching or coloring which require clean hands and keeps them busy.

Drink a glass of water and take a coconut oil pill before meals. Start the day with some lemon juice in water, and a swig of apple cider vinegar (with "mother")... these things curb appetite. :)
If I could put most of the things not to bother trying in a single post, it would pretty much look like this. :)

OP: Are you eating back some of your calories earned through exercise, however sporadic?

I appreciate all comments thank you. I've realised now where I've been going wrong is I haven't been eating healthy at all, I've been eating a lot of junk such as crisps, chocolate, high calorie sandwiches..... as of tomorrow I'm eating healthy for my calories and if there is enough left over I can have a treat or two.

you will get FAR more food eating lean proteins and veggies and the like for the same calorie level as eating the current stuffs your eating! not wonder your hungry!! :) Try a nice large grilled chicken breast in place of a two cookies or a dozen crisps lol. NO comparison!

Ding ding ding...we've isolated your problem!

I eat all my calories back which I know everyone has different views on. No I am rarely tummy rumbling hungry, I'm a person who stays at home majority of the week because however much I look for jobs every day I can't get one. I still get out there a few times a week but I look really stupid and hate exercising along walking/jogging to youtube videos. I would do it outside but I am a recovering agoraphobic and monophobic which I'm still getting over.

And currently I don't sleep well. I don't get 7-8 hours sleep a night. I try to. I've been trying to cut the caffeine down and do things like colouring and reading before bed.

I tend to only eat back around 50% of my exercise calories. Leaves a bit of wiggle room in case my logging wasn't pristine that day. ;)

I'm agoraphobic. I exercise at home. Cover mirrors if you don't want to see yourself.

But yeah, food choices will be your biggest game changer here.

If you like antique stores, or something like that, use it as a chance to add walking/exercise to your week.

Do you really do this stuff you wrote? ;)

You can still have crisps, chocolate.. Why not pre-log a yummy snack first thing and then plan your day with the rest of the foods you plan to eat.. No need to restrict unless this is a trigger for you.. If you go through the day and not eat anything does this cause you to graze on this type of foods leaving you no calories left at the end of the day, or something along the lines like this? Perhaps getting in your filling meals in for the day first and then plan a yummy snack..

Healthy means different thing to different people. I do not deem any food healthy, healthier, healthiest. So try to get in your protein needs regardless of how, when you plan to eat and fill your day with veggies, fruits, healthy fats, foods high in fiber and hydrate well throughout the day..

You can do this, take one day at a time and figure out how to work with your diary, meal timing and filling your day with the right foods that make you FEEL best.

That's good you exercise at home, I do too, I just find walking on the spot really boring, and my friend the other day forgot for some reason that I can't just walk around the block or to places. I have no mirrors so it's all fine. I hope you get better with your agoraphobia as soon as you feel ready to.

OP, are you getting enough fiber, protien and fats? Do you use a food scale? For me, the dfference between losing and not is the use of a food scale.

You don't have to eat exclusively healthy. It is okay to have crisps, sandwiches and such alongside healthier foods....just log all the components seperately. Treat food as food, not good and bad.

I personally aim to eat back half that my fitbit gives me on top of my fitbit calories.

    1. Coconut oil has calories and has nothing special about it unless you need to add more fat to the diet. Fat isn't necessarily satisfying for everyone (it isnt for me).
    2. Lemon juice water isn't special, either. It's just lemon flavoured water. It can also erode enamel from teeth. No evidence suggests it can aide in weight loss. Drinking water itself can help us feel fuller, but not always.
    3. ACV is as useful for weight loss as lemon water. No evidence to proves acv works towards weight loss or appetite.

I tend to not ''binge'' because I don't just eat til I feel sick, but I just stuff my face with junk food til I'm satisfied that's why I want to incorporate more fruit and vegetables in my diet. I am a pescetarian but have been craving red and white meats also so that's a sign I need more iron. I will still have crisps and all that just not as all my calorie allowance which to answer your question/s means no I haven't been getting enough fibre or protein, and the fats have been the saturated fat. If you were to look at my diary all you would see is crisps, chocolate, hot chocolate, soft drinks as the majority. Maybe a tiny bit of fruit and as these foods take up so many calories this is where I've been going wrong.

I do the ACV. I believe it does help curb appetite along with some other things to help with high cholesterol and diabetes. Works for me.

How about doing workout videos that aren't walking? There are so many options. I do bodyweight HIIT and strength training mostly. I have a mini stepper when I'm feeling especially enthusiastic. Walking on the spot wouldn't do it for me either and it takes an age to get a decent calorie burn that way too!

There is nothing at all wrong with those foods, or any food at all. Try moderation.

Once you are doing well on your macros, and when you have some calories left over, add in those foods you mention above.

Have a half of that high calorie sandwich and save half for another day. I love that I can buy food and eat only half, then I have more tomorrow.

Portion out your chocolate and crisps and put the rest away. it's surprising how satisfying 15 grams of chocolate of 28 grams of chips can be. Just enough....but not too much.

You can do this, I know you can. :)

Nothing wrong with chips, cookies, chocolate etc but most don't have a lot of staying power and they pack a punch in calories. Just do some trial and error and find what foods make you feel full longer (it really varies between people), and then work in the treats around these things, as your calories allow :)

To clarify I won't be taking coconut pills or swigging apple cider vinegar. I don't like either of those but thank you.

    yeah, that's funny.
