Hi Everyone,

I have been on MFP for awhile now but could create a thousand excuses as to why I stopped logging. It just comes down to being busy and not making the time.

I am pregnant with Baby #2 (pregnancy #3, loss in Dec 2010) and I have decided that I need to be aware of what I am eating to reduce the extra I can eat whatever I want because I am pregnant weight gain. I have been advised by my doctor to NOT lose weight while I am pregnant and will do what she says, I do not want to chance this baby.

Anyone else expecting?

Beckie

There is a whole thread for pregnant women, and for women who have recently had their babies. Congratulations and good luck. I met great friends on the preggers board. I had my baby 3 months ago.:flowerforyou:

I'm not pregnant yet.... we had a miscarriage on July 4, 2010 @ 9 weeks - had thought we were in the clear since we were nearly through the first trimester but had an ultrasound and no heartbeat - very devastating. Yes, we JUST passed the one year anniversary (I am blessed with 2 healthy girls ages 4 and nearly 2). We haven't tried again yet... but plan to later this year. It might be selfish, but I've post-poned trying again to reclaim my health. Started on MFP in January. Totally plan to use the site when I get pregnant again to track my nutrients and intakes and will keep using it to lose any pregnancy weight I gain, but will hopefully not gain LOTS when we do conceive.

My dad and brother are OBGYN's - as a general rule you only need 300 extra cals/day to support the growth of your new little one. So while most doctors will not let you try to lose weight while pregnant, you can try to minimize the amount you gain and only gain a healthy amount of weight to support your pregnancy. Try not to worry about the numbers, you can work on getting the pounds off in 9 months - breastfeeding helps alot!

    Congratulations!
  • I am sorry about your loss, I miscarried on New Years at 14 weeks and it was awful! I also thought I was 'in the clear' I was shocked when only 2.5mths later I found out I was expecting again!! Thanks for your post and best of luck!

I'm due Sept 29th with number three and am DESPERATE to not gain as much as I did with the first two pregnancies, but still keep the baby healthy. I ate for two with my first and gained 60 extra pounds on top of already being over weight. I unknowingly became pregnant again two months after my first was born and packed on more wight. I was looking at pics the other day and was amazed at how fat my arms and face were. I actually wore my "skinny" postpartum shorts this week as maternity pant if that tells you anything! This time around I'm eating for 1.1 and making healthier options.
