Also this may sound like a silly question but,is it safe to take? I'm on medications for a chronic condition. Plus, does your appetite return to normal when you stop taking it?
I'm finding that as I push myself to eat more,my appetite has improved anyway. The simple truth is I just wasn't eating enough before!

Consult your doctor, or at the very least speak with a pharmacist before combining medications. Many meds interact with each other, and many interact with vitamins, supplements, and even different foods.

Yup, think I'll consult with gp. Plus it doesn't seem to be available in the uk - I'd have to order from overseas and I share the concerns about quality.
Think I'll stick to what I'm doing - I'm finding that my appetite has improved anyway, since I started eating more.

Honestly, the biggest thing that stimulates my appetite is lifting heavy. I could eat a horse the day after a good lifting session.

Lifting absolutely increases my appetite, so does swimming.

I just ordered my first bottle and it should be coming in Friday! ill be home on the weekend so if I feel drowsy, it won't be a problem. I'm very tiny. 5 feet, 85 lbs. hoping to reach up to 100. 125 would be a dream come true. I also started drinking mass gainer protein shakes. Gonna start hitting the gym with squats and lunges since I mostly want to gain weight in my lower body area. How much pounds did you guys gain within a month? & how long does one bottle last for?

If you want to limit excessive fat gains, you want to minimize how aggressive you increase weight. Grant it, in the beginning, it may not be a bad thing, but once you get out of the underweight category, I would personally slow it down. Also, I would look at doing a structured program like strong curves (lower body focused), as it's design to promote muscle growth.

Hey everyone! I have used Apetamine in the past and back on it now. About a year ago, I gained 10 lbs after taking 5mL per day. The bottle recommends 10mL three times a day....I was nearly in a coma I was soooo tired. I stopped taking it after I finished one bottle and of course I lost the weight.

Fast forward to this year, I decided I needed to change my eating habits altogether. I was the coffee drinker who tended to skip meals....no appetite at all. So it took nearly 9 months of consistency, but I was able to go from 103 to 108...yes, i know, that's nothing. But it was more important for me to maintain those 5lbs bc my metabolism is high and I just didn't have a good appetite.

On 9/15/16 to 9/30/16 I began Apetamine again AND on 10/1/16 hired a personal trainer. Let me tell you my belly fat was "on fleek" and I did NOT want to look 5 mos pregnant every time I ate, LOL. Because I have to work and take care of a family, I took 2 to 2.5mL of Apetamine per day. I was nervous about being too sleepy again. What it does is increase your appetite and slows down your metabolism. I take it when my appetite starts to slow down, but my daily calorie minimum is 1700cals per day. I usually hit 2000 to 2500. I train for an hour 2x per week. I'm up to 112.4lbs. My goal is 125lbs by December. I didn't want to set an unrealistic goal and get discouraged :)

    Good luck everyone!!!

Apetamin a does not slow down your metabolism (metabolism altering drugs get banned by the FDA extremely quickly as many of them have a side effect of death) but it can stimulate appetite in some people. It causes drowsiness since it's an antihistamine. And since this is an unregulated drug, if you are actually in need of a stimulant, why not talk with your doctor to get one to ensure safety. Also, if you look up thread, I have a link to gaining weight foods and strategies that may help you. Lifting heavy tends to put a lot of stress on the body, which causes an increase in hunger. Also, eating more frequently can do it in some people. And concentrating on high calorie foods will allow you to achieve your surplus easier.

I will note anecdotally, the majority of users of apetamin do have complains about how their bellies look.. many look pregnant. That is potentially due to the rapid increase in calories which causes rapid increase in fat, or it's largely possible to be genetics.

Either way, for long term success, you really want to learn what foods you will need to hit your calorie goal. In the 7 years I have been here, it's extremely rare to see a success story of people who have maintained their weight loss or weight gain when stimulants are involved.

    Good luck.

The best exercises for stomach are "fork put downs" and "table push aways". Gaining 21lbs in 7 months is relatively quick and because you are a female, most of that will be fat.

I can vouch for that! I'm not using apetamin but have gained weight quickly-nearly 4 kgs in 7 weeks -the majority of which seems to be around my middle. Some of it is bloating due to a chronic bowel disorder but the rest of it is fat and it's not pretty! Now I'm slowing down the weight gain and doing bodyweight training but I do regret going too quickly.

I am working with a personal trainer for one hour, twice a week. He has me doing jack knifes (alone and with a 5lb dumbbell), two foot step jumps...(not sure if there is a better name for it but basically I tighten my stomach, squat then push off with both feet to jump on a step that's stacked 5 high and land in a squat...the burn on that is real...it's mostly a leg/butt exercise but it definitely has my ab area lit), hanging leg raises, and crunches.

While it is true that the antihistamine in Apetamine is what causes you to be drowsy, your metabolism naturally slows down when your sleeping so weight gain is a result. Just so you know....ALL antihistamines have this effect (making you hungry and sometimes sleepy). If you search "medications used to induce appetite" - cyproheptadine which is prescribed in the US cleared by the FDS, one of them, along with 3 or 4 others. Apetamine is a brand of cyproheptadine that is indeed NOT on the list of BRANDS for cyproheptadine...Periactin and Parnate are in the list. You can search for yourself at <accessdata.fda.gov>. Keep in mind the FDA approves and bans drugs they previously approve often...just work with your doctor.

Speaking of doctors, be sure to get with a weight management specialist bc most doctors will quickly dismiss your desire to gain weight since obesity is such a huge issue in the US.

In short, if your going to use Apetamine, Ensure or any other high calorie food or shake, the weight IS going to go to your belly if you aren't working out with some kind of frequency...no cardio if you want to gain. All strength training with heavy weight will give us what we're looking for! Good luck!!!

Metabolism is a non static number, so yes, it does naturally slow down by around 15% at during sleep, and it would naturally increase while awake. Apetamin does not affect that. Also, if you want to get technical, your body is in constant flux of anabolism and catabolism (lipolysis and lipogenesis respectively); meaning, your body will constantly store and break down fat. The net effect of energy balance is what is important. Have longer periods of lipogenesis and you have a net gain... longer periods of lipolysis and have a net loss... have equal periods and you have a net zero sum. The point is, even though during sleep metabolism slows, it' literally doesn't matter. What matters is getting adequate nutrients to address average metabolic and energy requirements throughout an extended period of time.

Also, cardio is fine during a bulk or even weight gain... only if you can maintain a calorie surplus. For some, like yourself and many others, cardio is not a great idea due to the increase in energy expended. For others, like myself, I will do HIIT during bulks because I don't have an issue eating 3400+ calories for a sustain period of time. With all that said, you may want to consider getting with your PT on using one of the below lifting programs. They are all progressive overload and focus on compound movements. So you will maximize your results with minimal effort; meaning you will engage the maximum amount of muscles with the minimal amount of lifts. These tend to provide greater gains than functional training if your goal is strength and muscle gains. That isn't to diminish your current program, because I feel that functional training has it's place, but if you want to gain muscle and minimize fat gains, than training is extremely important, and you want a program that will activate muscle protein synthesis and maintain it as much as possible.

I'm also taking Apetamin. I wasn't seeing results at first but then I started noticing that I couldn't fit certain clothes anymore. I'm trying to eat at least 3000 calories a day but its hard. But the Apetamin has helped a lot. My starting weight was 114 and as of now I'm at 130. I'm also drinking Ensure plus shakes too.

Girl, tell me about it! It's so stressful trying to keep track of what you're eating, and then when you're done eating a big meal you realize you still have 1000 more calories to go lol. How long have you been on your weight gain journey? Do you make your own shake ?

Yea its a struggle sometimes. I started my journey in July. If I can't get my Ensure Plus shakes then I make my own. Milk, bananas, peanut butter, ice cream, and chocolate syrup...its so good! Lol

Apedamin helps alot, I recently got some and I would like to start up again...go from 128 to 140
