Is just walking ok?

Hey guys, I am currently trying to gain weight. (I am currently underweight). Anyway I have heard multiple comments saying that it is also important to exercise and weight train while I am increasing my calorie intake. People have mentioned that if I don't I am going to gain just fat and no muscle. I currently just walk as exercise. (I tend to walk between 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day). Do I need to do something else or is just walking good enough to gain weight in a healthy fashion?

I would usually suggest performing resistance exercise too, as just walking is not an optimal muscle builder. But that advice may vary if you are an individual with an ED. How much weight are you trying to gain and is yours an ED-type situation and, if so, are you working with any professionals?

Just walking while eating a surplus won't help you gain muscle.

Any suggestions for getting started with resistance training? I do have a gym membership; however, I usually just go on the eliptical.

Just start, there are many guides on here for beginner programmes. If you are trying to gain weight, you should be doing some form of resistance training otherwise you stand to just gain fat.

walking is fine but won't help much with the muscle building
you can do resistance training, TRX if your gym has them, body weight exercises can be challenging. i've gained muscle with some of the circus arts(aerial hammock and lyra), parkour could be fun too

TRX classes are really fun and a good way to build muscle.
