I am 5ft 3 (JUST), I have been logging the last few weeks on here... on occasion not logged anything in due to the sheer quantity of food consumed.
I wanted to lose weight when coming on here but have since maintained. I weight about 58kgs/127lbs. This does not seems to shift, I did work out for like 2 weeks, 5 days a week and felt not different when it came to clothes fitting etc. Even so I'm amazing at how much i eat and still maintain. Maybe im slowly gaining without realising... ?!?!
What I want to know is if there is anyone who is consuming 3,000 to 4,000 calories doing moderate on occasion very little exercise and is able to maintain weight rather than add .

I have trouble maintaining on half that and I'm taller than you.
Are you weighing and measuring all your food?0 -
Well, if you are not losing then you are not in a deficit. What do you do for exercise and how much? How do you calculate your burns? Do you use a food scale to weigh all your food?3
-
I also wondered how 5'3 person could maintain with those calories? Maybe some athlete? Admittedly I don't know too much about this.3

I only wish I were an athlete, but this weight is not small by the way, im a UK size 12-14 (US size: 10), so I'm not tiny. I don't weight everything exact (it would be too tiring), but i keep eating a lot- starting over every day then failing- get me in a buffet and I'm likely to end up ill from overeating. Over-eating is my thing.
I'm just thinking there must be a few people who eat a lot too and are not obese (sorry to those who are), the biggest i have been in my life was 64kg /141lbs, that is one of the worst times for my health and mental psyche. I was eating NON stop like literally (mouth would hurt from chewing)

ps. If i work out I don't tend to count them, because going to the gym say doing 6 press ups, 10 minutes on the cross training, some stretching and some other random stuff is not too significant so i do it for just feeling better (accomplishing activity). But haven't been to the gym for over 2 weeks so... it's at the back of my mind as I'm paying.0

If you're not weighing everything and if you're not tracking accurately, perhaps you're not eating 3000-4000 calories.
Perhaps you feel like you're eating a lot ... for you. But maybe it really isn't all that much.
When I started here, I logged a day that represented what I had been eating for the previous few years, and it only came to about 2200 calories. I thought it was a large amount of food, but the calorie count wasn't astronomically high.4 -
I maintain somewhere in the region of 3000 but I weight nearly double. I have no idea what you're actually asking but you haven't weighed or tracked accurately for any period of time so don't expect any results.4

By the way is there a possibility you could have an eating disorder, you say you eat non stop until your mouth hurts from eating and chewing? Have you tried to talk to any doctor or therapist etc?5
-
Congratulations!!! You should be happy that you can eat that much without gaining. I am sure many of us wish we were in the same boat!
Perhaps you have a very active job?
Perhaps you have a very active metabolism?
Perhaps you have a medical condition?
Perhaps you have a TAPE WORM?
Be happy that you can guestimate a 3000 - 4000 calorie intake daily without gaining!10 -

I'm curious as to whether you are intimating that you believe you maintain on that many calories? If so, you are way overestimating because you are smaller. With your stats, if you are maintaining on 3,000 to 4,000 calories you could have a serious hyperthyroid problem or other medical issue, in which case you will need to go to the doctor asap.2 -

I peeked at your profile, and have put in bold here what stands out. You need to speak with a professional regarding your eating disorder, which has been going on for quite awhile.4 -
If you're not weighing everything, then you're probably not eating as much as you think. I find it very hard to believe you wouldn't be gaining at a rapid rate if you really were consuming 3000-4000 calories a day. Could you open your diary?1

I don't want to sound ignorant but are you trolling? You could be slowly gaining but I have a very hard time believing somebody your supposed weight and height is maintaining on over 2500 kcal especially at your activity level. Many women are surprised they actually can eat around 2000 if they're somewhat active and maintain....3000? no. Weight takes time to put and on and time to come off...been there done that. still doing it. I suggest seeking a dietitian if you are truly dealing with this problem.5

No way at your size and being female that you would be able to maintain on 3,000 - 4,000 calories without a very heavy training load...3 -
I might just be having a "dumb" day or something, but is this serious????4

Could you open up your diary so we can see what you have in there?1

I am eating over 3000.... BUT... I am bulking, and breastfeeding, and very active, and 4" taller than you.
You are not logging so maybe you think you are eating a lot, or eating a lot one day and not much the next. Or you are more active than you think.3 -

A lot of people who think they eat a lot and can't gain do what is bolded. Eat a large amount in one sitting, eat very little for the rest of the day and maybe the next. I used to do this through much of college. I would have very small meals most of the week but on specific days when the cafeteria had foods I liked a lot, I would load up because it was an all-you-can-eat buffet. My school had a great Sunday brunch with carving stations, waffle stations, etc. I would eat the equivalent of a giant holiday feast each Sunday and one or two very large meals (or maybe a tube of cookie dough) later in the week but other than that it was mostly salad and Cap'n Crunch for me. My friends would always comment on how much I would eat and not gain weight.2 -
" I have been logging the last few weeks on here"
So you are trying to evaluate your progress based on two weeks. I think there is your problem. Due to changes in water retention any weight gain you had from calories could have been masked in random water weight fluctuations over that period of time.
if you are legit eating 3000-4000 calories a day consistantly as a semi-active 5'3'' woman there is basically no way you aren't going to gain weight over time.
I maintain at about 3000 calories as a fairly active 6' tall man....I would gain weight if I ate 3000-4000 per day.0 -
I don't think so.

I used to be a regular 3k, 4k cal eater...which is why I'm here with you cool people
Also 5'3 and sorry but no way you're eating that unless you have a serious medical condition.2 -
Lol, we think the OP was playing a prank2
-
I'm the opposite... I can't fathom eating 2000 calories let alone 2x that! On a day when I greatly overeat my max intake is 1700. I wish my metabolism was as active as yours.... I'm 6'1 and if I eat more than 1200 average daily I'm gaining weight yall amaze me (in a good way).0

I agree with the others who think this is a troll0
