Wear whats comfortable for you.
Right now I am wearing a pair of New Balance 860v6 (men). Have not owned a pair of 'white' shoes in about 30 something years.

I'll be 48 in less than a month, but I guess I'm ready for 50.

What's "wrong" w/white sneakers?
I'm 66. I've got:
1 pair of white VS lifting shoes w/black stripes,
1 pair of white UA running shoes w/red soles and black trim,
1 pair of white UA football/soccer hightop cleats w/a black textured "star" pattern,
1 pair of black Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars,
and 1 pair of black Shimano clipless bike shoes w/green trim.
So what? [Shrug]1 -

2016 Same guy, now 51, thinks "What's cool? Run D.M.C. were cool. I'm going to get me some white sneakers!"
Duh. Of course. Adidas Superstar II - aka shelltoes (now down to a pair of white with gold stripes and a pair of block pink Pharrell Williams edition) and Puma Suede Classics (yellow, red and green pairs) for me. Had to show the vid of Run DMC (feat. Aerosmith) - Walk This Way, to my teenaged daughter for her to understand just what a cool dad she has.

What? They look okay to me. I'm thinking a seventies ABC After School Special starring Rex Smith entitled Sooner or Later. I think he was wearing those during rehearsals for his rock and roll gigs at the L.A. shopping malls and during sweaty work outs on the tennis court. The girls thought they looked really good.
Well now..... I reckon that I stand corrected.
Who am I to compete with Rex Smith?
.... or his hair?1 -
Be the "hip" 50 year old and wear these:

My hub is 51, and recently developed a love for nice sneaks...or at least for buying them! He has 7 or 8 really fancy pair in the closet (none are white tho!), but he only ever wears the black ones.0

Go to most shoe stores and the majority of athletic shoes are white. I got in the habit of buying white when I worked as a nursing assistant and had to have white shoes, just haven't seen a reason to change. Now also have found New Balance to fit me the best and the vast majority of their cross trainers are white. Go with the flow, they are comfortable and I don't spend a ton of time buying shoes.0

i wish. last time i went shopping for runners around here, everything was coloured like the kind of candy you won't let a 5-yo eat unless you detest its parents.0 -

Do you really give a coital event about the clothes old farts wear?1

...probably because older people are much less susceptible to the constant barrage of sheeple marketing messages instructing everyone what they must buy/wear or what is currently cool and uncool... so they make their own decision (*choke!* *gasp!*) on what they prefer instead.4

Wow, some of you are just bitter about this...

That's hilarious because it's true. To complete the uniform, they always tuck their shirt into their jeans.
Dad jeans!

My favorite. So clean....0
