Looking for clean foods will be a struggle - yes. Nobody really knows or agree on what it means, and it's not even a useful term.

To lose weight, you have to eat less.

For good health, you need an appropriate amount of calories, and a good variety of food from all the food groups every day.

For sanity and enjoyment of life, you have to eat food you like.

Nobody but you should decide what you should eat. Nobody who doesn't know you can know what you find interesting. What do you like?

I know I have to eat unprocessed food but what exactly are my options? Can I eat everything I make at home? In small portions of course.

Unprocessed foods is also a tricky term. What does it mean? Is it useful? What happens to food when you cook it? Isn't that... processing?

Yes, you can eat food you make yourself. You can eat every food you like. No, you don't have to eat everything in small portions. It depends on what you mean by small, of course. Eat appropriate portions. That means that everything you eat in a day, combined, gives you the amount of calories you need in a day. MFP will have given you the calorie goal you should aim for.

    My suggestion?

Learn to eat your favorite foods in portions that allow you to reach your calorie goal. That's it.

I like plain fish, scrambled eggs, eggs, kimchi, sauerkraut, plain beef, plain chicken, greens, and plain potatoes of all kinds. You may not, but that's about the best I can offer.

Unless you grow veggies in your backyard and pick and eat them without washing them, your food is processed. I love beans of all kinds in soups, but technically soaking them is a process. Processing food isn't unclean; it's necessary.

For no mystery ingredients added food:
4 c Chicken stock ( I cook whole chicken and make my own.)
    4 c water
    2 c brown rice
2 c black beans (soaked and rinsed)
    4 c diced tomatoes
    1 c okra chopped
    1 onion diced
    1 bell pepper diced
2lbs Andouille sausage or chicken or 1lb of each from a good butcher (if you aren't allergic, shrimp also works)
Garlic, black pepper and paprika to taste.

This gumbo feeds my family of six twice. Cut the recipe in half or freeze some and eat it when you are in a hurry. You can use kidney beans if you like them better. You can add more onion and pepper if you like.

I found a person named LeAnne Vogel when I started my fitness goals last month. She is a holistic nutritionist and I really like her as a person and her recipe collection is pretty fantastic. You can look her up and find her easily enough:-)

If you are struggling, consider a fat fueled lifestyle and look in to her.

there is no clean food.. even fruits and veggies are covered in dirt!
haha but really the term clean eating and processed is gonna open up a can of worms. Pulling an apple off the tree, washing it, and cutting into slices is considered processing. its all subjective as to what you consider "clean" eating.

That is not a muffin. That is banana-flavored baked egg.
