Hey! So my body does not work well with carbs. I always eat whole-wheat or whole grain etc .. although, fruits happen to have a lot of carbs also. I know it's good carbs but I think my body stores it. Therefore, I should go on a low carb diet but what are some examples, food or recipes for low carb??

Any ideas, suggestions, tips etc would be super helpful!

First, if you're in a deficit, you'll lose weight. For some it may be easier to create that deficit with a lower carb intake.

My lower carb diet consists of...less carbs. It's not rocket science. I don't really eat sandwiches or bread on the reg, nor pasta. My fruit intake is low and if I eat fruit it's usually berries. I add two packets of sugar to my coffee per day, but try to stop there even if I have another coffee. I eat a high volume of vegetables, think double to 4x the amount a "normal" person would eat, with about 4-6oz of lean protein. I use hot sauce instead of creamy dressings, and have lighter option desserts with little sugar.

It may not be 100% what you're looking for but lots of low-or-no-carb people use Keto, Paleo and/or Whole 30. These may be good places to start with for recipes at the very least. You may not want to follow the programs completely, but there will be hundreds of recipes that are low-carb.

There are no good carbs - bad carbs; carbohydrates is a macro nutrient that provides energy, just like protein and fat.

Energy in food is measured in calories. A calorie surplus - eating more than you burn - gets stored as fat.

You can eat anything you like and lose, maintain or gain weight, as long as you eat the appropriate amount.

Some foods are more nutritious than others, but we need a wide range of nutrients every day to stay healthy and feel good, and eating a wide variety of nutritious foods makes that pretty easy. Cutting out foods and food groups for no particular reason makes eating well more difficult, not easier.

Truly eating 'low carb' can be difficult (I've tried..and failed), because it limits your diet quite a lot. You can certainly cut out some carbs if you want, pretty easily - stay away from things like breads, cereals, crackers, rice, potatoes. Some fruits, like bananas, have more carbs in them than others, like berries, so be aware of that. Eat more veggies, sources of protein, and healthy fats.

Basically you're going to cut out or substantially cut back on carbs...your meals will emphasize fat and protein.

As a general rule, cut carbs are replaced by fats. LCHF.
When cutting carbs I started with:
    • sugary foods (candy, soda, nutritional fluff)
    • baked goods and foods made from refined grains like bread, muffins, noodles, tortilla, gravy
    • Whole grains like rice oats, corn, bulgar
    • High GI fruits, which are usually tropical, like bananas, mangos, dates, figs; limited medium GI fruits like apples, oranges; and all dried friits (raisens, prunes)
    • Starchy root vegetables like potatoes carrots, , parsnips, and onions are limited or avoided

Low carb is considered to be roughly under 150g of carbs per day, down to almost zero carbs. Most will fill those carbs with veggies, nuts and seeds, and the incidental carbs found in foods like meat or full fat dairy. This is usually 0-30% in the macros. 0-10% if you want a ketogenic level of carbs (or 0-50g).

Low carb diets or books include Atkins, Wahl's, Dr Richard Bernstein's, Protein Power, Ketogenic (Keto Clarity), Whole 30, and sometimes paleo, primal and mediterranean, South Beach and Dukkan depending on how you set up your macros.

If you aren't really sure what foods have carbs or how to do a low carb meal, how do you come to the conclusion that your body reacts poorly to carbs?

Everyone's body will store fat at a calorie deficit and not if they aren't at one.

That said, I'm all for low carb if you want to try it, but this doesn't seem well-thought-out at all. If you log MFP will show you how many carbs are in different foods.
