    the sauce was super tasty.

    1/4 cup nutritional yeast
    3 table spoon olive oil
    2 table spoon maple sirup
2 table spoon soy sauce (tamari)
    2 table spoon water
    minced garlic

mix it in the mixer... voilà

I'm still making experiment with the stuff

Here's a pasta sauce (similar to mac and cheese) recipe that uses it to good effect: http://czechvegan.blogspot.com/2012/08/mac-cheese-yes-please.html

I don't like the smell either ( I think it smells like dirty feet!), but I like the taste. For me, as soon as I stir it into something, the smell goes away.

How do you make it stick to the popcorn? It all ends up at the bottom of the bowl.

I wanted a taco style seasoning for my popcorn and finagled around with the spices until I came up with this:

    “Taco” Popcorn Seasoning

1/4 cup Nutritional yeast, ground in spice grinder
    1 tsp Garlic powder
    1 tsp Onion powder
    1/8 tsp Cayenne pepper
    1 tsp Chili powder
    1 tsp Paprika
    1/2 tsp Salt

It is soooo addictive! I use a pump style spray bottle with EVOO and spritz the popcorn, then (heavily) sprinkle this on!

I've never been a huge popcorn fan, but I think I could be with this. Thanks for sharing.

I am not a vegetarian either, but I was turned onto nutritional yeast when I stayed at a B&B that happened to be vegetarian. She has a recipe for Tuscan bean soup that uses a base similar to what you posted above. Olive oil, garlic, nutritional yeast, tamari soy sauce and chopped fresh rosemary. Saute all ingredients until fragrant, then add water and canned canellini beans(rinsed). Very delicious!

Yep, it is great on popcorn and also in cheese grits. Yes we put salt and pepper, butter, cheese, AND nutritional yeast into grits, absolutely delicious.

Is it actually nutritional? I wonder why it is called that.

It typically has lots of B-vitamins and is often fortified with plenty of B12, which is why (along with the somewhat-cheesy taste) it is so popular among vegans, who require B12 supplementation or fortified foods.
