Busy Mom, would my method work?

As much as I would love to spend an hour a day in the gym, it's just impossible. So, just wondering, what kind of results could I maybe get from a 1200 calorie diet and literally 5-10 minutes of at home workout (squats, jumping jacks, planks etc.) I don't want muscle as much as I just want to be more toned and smaller if that makes sense. I'm willing to workout 5-10min a day, everyday because it's the only option I have. What do you think?

You don't have to exercise at all to lose weight, all you need is a calorie deficit. That said, you wouldn't gain muscle by only working out 5-10 minutes and eating 1200 calories.2

You don't have to exercise at all to lose weight. MFP's method lets you eat more food if you do, but it is not necessary to exercise to lose weight. That being said, there are lots of busy moms who find time to exercise. There's a search feature you can use to see what other busy moms have done to fit exercise in. I'm a single parent and my gym time is my "me" time.1

The reason why she mentions muscle is your goal of being toned. The toned look comes from low body fat and adequate muscle. Most people have to build some muscle to get to that point.1 -
Any exercise is good but what are your current stats? For me to lose .5 lbs a week I have to eat 1350 cals a day, so I'm just wondering if 1200 is a bit aggressive for you.
It says to go from 250 to 175 in a year I would need 1300 cals a day. I figure from the lack of real exercise and I sit at a desk all day, i just cut 100 cals off. That's 2 pounds a week.0 -

Ok, that's great info. My biggest fear is losing all this weight and having sagging skin afterwards. Any ideas on how to avoid that?0 -

Sounds great, but unfortunately we all have different lifestyles with different demands. I have to sacrifice quality time with my 2 yr old and put her to bed earlier just to fit that 10 minutes in , because I'm also tending to my 8 yr old. Kudos on having that free time. You're a lucky woman0 -

Lose slow and strength train are the only factors you can control that might help. Saggy skin generally comes down to age, weight lost, and genetics.1 -
Eat more than that
Can you find 2 10 minute times during the day to workout?
Also, studies show the most productive time of day to get work done is from 4am to 6am
Maybe you could get up earlier and without longer then.
I suppose I could wake up a bit earlier. Please tell me how to roll out of bed and jump straight into working out, I've always been envious of people who can exercise in the morning lol0 -

A small deficit, a good strength/resistance program, and genetics.1 -

I don't really have free time, I sacrifice my lunch hour at work to go workout. It means eating in my car. You have time to be online asking questions right now, so you could probably sacrifice some of that to workout. When I was a stay at home mom I woke up early and got my workouts in.1 -

I'm delighted to hear about your life. But I really need some advice based on mine. Thank you so much for your input, but I need to know how to make the most of my 20 free minutes lol0 -

I'm not trying to brag about my life, I'm giving you examples on how it can work for some people. I have been in your shoes. Weighing the same you do with a full time job, school, raising kids alone, and trying to maintain a household.
As several of us stated weight loss comes down to eating. You don't need exercise at all. I think you will find your goal is too aggressive which often leads to struggling, but if you manage to stick to 1200 calories that's great. Worry about working out when you find a way to unload your plate.2 -
