Dog Friendly Folks

I owe the start and continuation of my mirninf exercise to my dog. Not many dog friendly people on here that I've seen. I bike my dog 14 miles and her pace is 9.5 mph. Its not a lot, but still a burn. Plan on adding more dogs w walks. Bailey, 40 lbs blue heeler is my bud in life and I have problems leaving the house on a good day, but w the dog, I'm on the trail. Will change come snow.
My dog is my life fitness pal, never out of energy. Looking for others who incorporate dogs into exercise routine. She gives me motivation w that happy face every morning and that helps me out the door. I have much to lose, am on meds where I have to be realistic about the weight gain side effects, but 60 lbs or so have to go! I got my dog in shape, and she's getting me moving every day. My general outlook on life is a little something is better than a lot of nothing. I keep it basic.

My girl is my best friend and biggest motivator! She gets her minimum 3 miles a day plus sometimes we run together. This is a lot of quick bursts then me running in place while she smells stuff but we have fun. She's in great shape but is over 14 years old so I try to keep her active so she'll be with me for a long long time to come. She was with me for every pound of weight lost. Hiking is also great with a dog.5

I bring my dog to work whenever it's nice out and walk her during my lunch break. It's not a lot of exercise but sure beats sitting on my butt all day. Last weekend we went pheasant hunting which was 3 hours of walking through waist high grass so we both worked up a good sweat.
Here's a halloween picture of her.

I have two but they pile on the couch with me and encourage me to snuggle just a little longer!3

Besides walking, Riley isn't a part of my exercise routine but she brings sooo much joy to every day, adding immensely to my mental/physical wellbeing and life balance.

this is my little turkey, Indy! she runs circles around me and is always down for a good snuggle afterwards, so that's always a good reward for getting outside

This is my dog, Dave.
Dave likes mud.
A lot.

He's not part of my fitness routine yet as he's only 10 weeks old, but he'll surely make a great running buddy when he's old enough. I can't wait to take him for long walks, running, hiking, biking and maybe get him into doing Agility. For the time being he's just a great snuggle buddy that loves playtime!

We've been without a dog just over a year, but will be getting a new pup on December 2nd. We've waited since we had some travels this year. I'll try to post a photo.

This is my Ziggy girl. almost 8 year old beagle mix. She is like most hounds and her nose is to the ground always. therefore, she doesn't make the best walking buddy. But she still gets me out at least twice a day for short walks.
This is my Jazi girl (Jazmin's her real name). We are taking care of her for a family member, but she's basically ours for the rest of her life. She's a 3 year old border collie greyhound mix, as best we can tell. If i liked to run, she would be PERFECT for that. We, my husband and I, take her to the off leash dog park throughout the week so that she can run and play. We do laps around the park with her. So, by the time we have done 4 laps, Jazi is pooped. I think I need to stop reading this thread as its giving me puppy fever and I'm starting to rationalize a trip to the Humane Society

This place looks familiar! Acton High school?1 -
Yep! she definitely gets me out of the house for a walk, even on the coldest days.9 -
My wife and I adopted a mother/son combo, I can only walk them late at night when no one else is around because they were never socialized properly and go nuts when they see another dog. In the house with us, they are perfect.5

This is an amazing thread!! And this is my first post! I'm loving the pics of everyone's puppies! My guy is a mixed bag when it comes to exercising... he's definitely the reason I get out and run or walk! On the other hand, God forbid I try to do yoga or a workout tape! Then he decides he needs to 'help' by jumping on me or flopping around or getting in the way somehow. "Nononono
! Mom mom mom, you're doing downward facing dog wrong! This is how you do it! I'll help!!!!!"12 -
We just got my beagle baby 2 months ago (she's now 6 mths old) and semi-jokingly call her my gym membership.
She is great and definitely keeps me motivated to get out and walk.
We might be having a quiet couple of days though - she has just been spayed today.3 -

I always bring my dog with me! Most of my excercise is outside. And a huge chunk of it is in the bear and cougar filled woods or late at night. So it's helpful having a seeety who can look like a killer pitbull1

Adopting Beckett was the best thing I've ever done. She's ridiculously hyper and was the one to really push me to be more active and take care of myself. Had a few false starts but now we're holding steady.
The pic with the crazy do is the day I brought her home in 2011. The other is a more current-ish one. She doesn't sit still for a picture unless she's sleeping..
