Is it weight loss that makes us happy?
Has someone met their weight loss goals, and would you say the feeling right now is happy?
I'm sure as we go though our weight loss journey, we find along the way, other things that truly affect if we are happy or not. What have you noticed along the way of your weight loss journey that you had to change/ work on in order to continue to be happy and/or continue your weight loss journey?
Take care friends!

I'm not at my goal. But lately I find myself so much more happier than I have been..and I attribute it to the fact that I'm losing my weight. So yes. it will make you happy to unload what makes you feel bad..look bad.11

No ... weight loss did not make me happy.
However, the results of the weight loss did. I can now do the things I love doing again.24 -
It has certainly been a big step in the right direction.14

I've been overweight and unhappy, lost the weight, was skinny and was EXTREMELY unhappy, gained weight and was fat and happy. Now I'm losing weight again and I'm happy.
Happiness isn't the product of success in any endeavor. Happiness is a state of being.
Which is why I reject some people's notions that fat people are unhappy or that losing weight will make you happy.
People are always looking for "that thing" to be fixed or perfect before they can be happy. The problem is that life is never perfect. Don't wait for the problem to go away to be happy.
Just be. Happy.
How I did it? Prayer. Jesus saves and he heals our hearts, so we can have peace and joy.

No but it helps to your overall well being to be healthy and comfortable in your skin6

I think eating well and a balanced diet makes me very happy, less moody and more in control of decisions and coping with lifes hic cups. So in that respect, yes I think it makes me happy.12

We are responsible for our happiness. Weight loss is not 'making me happy' - because the root of my happiness is how I adapt my thoughts. Now, not-being such a fatty mcfatster doesn't make me happy but it removes from me one possible area to cause angst. I am to the point where I could probably go home with a chick, undress and do that thing without stressing over my body image issues. So - to summarize, for me this is about removing obstacles or potential stoppages to happiness.12

Ultimately no, I don't think the weight loss itself makes me happy. However, as I am losing weight I find myself to be more happy, and I think that is because my weight and size in the past weighed on me emotionally. I was very happy in every other aspect of my life (most of the time!) except my health. So it makes me happy that I am losing the weight, but I was happy before as well.5

I'm very happy that I lost some weight (45lbs) but I'm even MORE happy to finally get it under control, to start transitioning into a natural skinny person, that to me is Fredoom and is priceless
But it wasn't quick or easy and it clicked way long after I lost the weight...5 -
I think that one of the things that makes me the most frustrated on a day to day basis is getting dressed. I don't feel good in most clothes when I'm not happy with my body. I feel more confident and start my day off right when I'm at a lower weight. Because of that, I'd say yes, I'm happier when I'm at a lower weight.11

Knowing I'm getting my health back gives me deep contentment. I'm not where I would like to be, I'm getting used to how I am.8
-
Yeah, it made me happy. I'm generally a happy person but yeah, accomplishing that goal and getting back to the old normal sized me made me very happy.7

For me, no. I'm mentally the same person at 132# as I was at 320#.2

It makes me more confident and relaxed when I'm out in public because of that and then I'm happier because I can enjoy life more without stressing over how I look or how uncomfortable I am..I have been in both places before and know I'm a different person when I'm more confident and at an ideal weight..7

Indeed it did! If I hadn't embarked on a weightloss journey, I wouldn't have discovered my love for trail running & hiking! And I'm at my absolute happiest when I'm out running through the hills! Also it makes me happy that I can take control of my body and not be destined to suffer obesity-related diseases like I've seen many of my family members & friends suffer through. And then there's the fun clothes! Hellyeah achieving a healthy weight has made me happy!11

I wasn't unhappy before starting on this journey but I do have a lot more energy. This makes me do more physical things with my daughter and that makes me happier than before.4
-
I don't think it's weight loss in general that makes me happy, but I do believe it's the little achievements that bring me closer to a bigger goal that make me proud. That makes me happy.4

I never have called myself a "happy" person and I never have blamed fat for it.
There was an occasion on this journey when I first experienced the taste and texture of DKB toasted spread with Smucker's Natural Crunchy peanut butter, in which I admitted that I was happy with that, but for the most part I'm not happy-able.6 -

Find God and be thankful for your blessings. You might be surprised.10 -
I'm generally a happy go lucky person as well, but losing this weight has made me happiER. Looking down at a pretty small waist makes me smile every time. :-)2

Oh definitely made/makes me happy....in so many ways other than the obvious health benefits. It made me proud, gave me more confidence, direction, and a sense of regaining control of my life and actions. It's a long, hard journey...but so worth it2
-
Of course. Nobody wants to be fat.1

Honestly, the lower I get on the scale, the more thick-skinned and confident i become...i could literally be standing on a stage by myself and have hundreds of people pointing and laughing at me/undermining my self-worth and it wouldn't FAZE me...whereas before, one bratty kindergartener pointing out i had "man boobs" ruined my day5 -
Yes and no. When I was heavy, there were aspects of my life that made me happy and some aspects that made me unhappy. I lost 100lbs, and now...there are aspects of my life that make me happy, and some aspects that keep me unhappy. Being fat is no longer something that I need to be unhappy about.7
-
It definitely boosts your mood and confidence. I enjoy life more and know I can do things I couldn't do before.6

I've always had confidence and charisma, but I felt I could be better, I sacrificed, not eating the things that were making me fat and started trying to eat things that worked for me than against me, exercise became a routine, everyday, anytime I had free time I would do some form of exercise. Now I fit into clothes that I want to wear, and I know when I walk into a room everybody gives me a look at least once, people are more friendly, and it's easy to make friends, I look around me all the time and see so many people out of shape, either because of poor choices in foods, or lack of exercise, lack of correct information, or no desire to try to make a change because they gave up, and said this is it, it's never going to change so why bother. defeated. But yes, it does make me happy, and now I know what to do I will continue trying to perfect what I've been given.3

I think I am unhappy either way. Either I am unhappy because I am fat because I feels so uncomfortable because of all the rolls and weight. or Im unhappy becuase I am thin and boney because I dont have enough padding when I sit or lay down, and cant ever eat what I want or as much as I want and am hungry all the time. its a no win situation. Its just picking the least of evils. "choose your bad" as the saying goes. At least if I am thin my clothes fit better and less tight. Tight clothing is very painful and uncomfortable for me and cuts off my circulation. that or I wear super baggy clothes but I dont realy like that either.5

I haven't hit my goal weight yet, but I'm down 52 pounds. The happiness comes and goes. I still see the fat girl, but other days, I'm like oohh mama who dat girl?! Anyway...no it hasn't really made me happy. People start to notice me more, and look at me, and guys smile at me; which makes me uncomfortable because I hate when people look at me too much because then I get self conscious.9
