I feel like my exercise is finally on point - I've got this!
My problem is food and not really the quantity just the choices. How do you guys find the motivation to step away from the cheesy nachos and opt for the salad?

Log it before you eat it! Preferably your whole day. Then you can make informed choices, and make the nachos fit once in awhile.3

Yep, pre log each morning2

I prep on Sunday for at least four days and pre-log those meals. I don't always eat everything I've prelogged, so the fifth day is for leftovers and one day I fast.2

I've never thought about prelogging before! Seems so logical.1

How many calories in cheesy nachos? If it were up to me I'd find something that tastes closer to what you're looking for. is there salad that's close to cheesy nachos? Cheesy salad? I used to think that to lose weight meant eating salads (so I never tried to lose weight since salads aren't appealing to me). Apparently you can lose weight eating what you like, just figure out the calories....1

Cheesy nacho salad?!?! Say it's true!0

Lol, make it work girl!0

Pre-logging is a good idea and so is eating what you like. If you dislike salad you'll likely not stick with that type of meal plan for long. I believe in eating what you like, so eat the nachos but have a smaller portion. Tell yourself you can have another small portion tomorrow if you want.
Obviously, counting calories and learning portion control is key but so is taking control of your food intake instead of letting it control you. Starts to build your confidence and then you can keep going from there.0 -
It's not that I dislike salad more that I REALLY like everything that's bad for me.
I can't say no to my cravings. I suppose what I am lacking is will power. I keep hoping I'll find some motivation lying in the laundry basket or underneath my last cheesy nacho.
Definitely going to try prelogging though and see how I can make it fit.0 -
I'm still curious how many calories in cheesy nachos? Maybe you can learn to enjoy less of it
so it fits in your calories budget, good luck!

I don't eat salad all that often, I eat more potatoes, veggies, meat, etc. What you eat matters less than your calorie counts. If you have the calories to spare, I say eat the nachos as long as it isn't going to leave you hungry the rest of the day. That's where pre-logging comes in. If you know what you are having for the whole day, or at least a meal ahead of time, you'll then know if you can afford that snack. I generally have my whole day logged by lunch, then adjust as necessary, but it also includes a late snack which is usually no sugar added ice cream with toppings lol.0

OP, I don't know if this is true for you, but I always find that when I focus on what i can't have, it just makes me want it more. So I try to focus on what I want more of in my diet. So I focus on making sure I eat enough veggies and enough protein. And as long as I'm doing that, I don't feel bad about eating the other stuff. And as it turns out, when I stopped feeling like I screwed up when I had nachos, or ice cream, or soda, I stopped craving them as much. And now it's easy for me to fit in some nachos without overdoing it.
And yeah, pre-logging was a game changer for me too.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks guys! I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me what works for you0

I make a nacho salad with romaine, tomatoes, black olives, red onion, spicy chicken, grated old cheddar, tortilla chips and salsa for dressing....I just weigh all the ingredients and adjust if I want more cheese, more chips or chicken as those are the most calorie dense. it is awesome. I usually make it come in around 500 calories and it is super filling and loaded with flavour.2

Nacho salad?!? It is true! I should clarify I'm only using nachos as an example I do eat other foods!

Just an example of how you can take the elements of your favourite foods and re-create them and maybe even make them better. There are no rules!!1 -
My thing is fried chicken, so I bought frozen chicken tenders and put them in the oven. I have made a meal of those with frozen veggies and applesauce on the side for less than 500 cals and it satisfied me.1

The scale is enough motivation for me. I use Food as nutrition to fuel my workouts. I have a treat now and again and then it tastes wonderful. I have said no to PIZZA so many times, no one even asks me anymore. If you give up the crap long enough, real wholesome food will start to taste good and you will want to eat it.0
