How Robotic Are You?

This may not sound like what you want to hear but sometimes in life you need to be a robot, especially when it comes to setting and achieving fat loss goals. Let’s say you commit to a gym schedule of 4 days a week and your schedule permits that you can only do it early in the morning around 6:00 AM.

Are you going to feel like waking up each morning and going? Maybe you’ll be in bed one morning and then start doing the mental computations in your head about all the effort it is going to take to get out of bed and accomplish your workout. So you decide to stay in bed that morning for an extra 2 hours of sleep. Now you’ve missed your workout.

Be a robot when it comes to diet and exercise. Think about it like this. Imagine if you went to the gym like a robot for the last 18 months. What would your body look like? Imagine if you ate the foods you know you were supposed to eat, in the correct amounts, for the last 18 months, like a robot. How would your body look and feel? You would probably be where you want to be. The time is going to pass regardless.

Sometimes you have to take emotion out of the process. Everyone always says, “love the process!” or “enjoy the journey!” and while that may sound all warm and fuzzy, in reality we know it’s going to be a grind to get anything worthwhile.

From now on all that matters is the end result, not the process that gets you there. The work you have to do is irrelevant. You have a current situation and a desired situation, it doesn’t matter what you have to do or how it feels in the process of getting there, you just get there. Do the work.

With this mentality you’ll start hitting your goals because you’re not thinking as much, you’re just simply doing it. You don’t have to worry about whether you feel like it or not. You do the thing you dread with no emotion, no thought. You wake up at 5:00 AM and get to the gym. You eat plain chicken breast and broccoli. All the while you know if you stick to this for 13-18 months, you will literally be transformed into a new person with a new body.

Stay strong, the choice is always yours.

I saw one of those "motivational" posters on Facebook that said "do something today that the you of tomorrow would be grateful for" and exercise seemed relatively easy, not a whole lotta brainpower needed.
40lbs down and it's worked well for me.
