Can you eat ice cream and/or other desserts on a low carb diet if it fits?

Example; getting your protein, and a majority of fats, from all meals except for one which you save for dessert because you still have carbs and fats left. But in terms of macros, you're still technically low carb. Is this ok?

A low carbohydrate diet is one where you are at or under your goal for reducing carbohydrates. If you want to "spend" a bigger chunk of them on one food item, you would still be low carbohydrate.3

My weight loss has been purely on exercise and eating anything I want as long as it 'fits'. If it doesn't fit on the day but you are desperate for it, make up for it tomorrow0

Alrighty then, thank you for explaining. Love your avi by the way! Is that your's?0 -
I'd get the vast majority of reduced allotment of carbs from nutritionally dense carbs like vegetables and fruit as opposed to ice cream0

No -- I wish! Just a cute picture I found online.1 -
You can eat anything you want as long as it ends up in a calorie deficit. There's nothing magical about low carb.2

For weight loss yes, for general health, not so much.1 -
If it fits your macros it fits your macros. That's the whole idea. If it fits you can have it! Personally I like Halo Top ice cream because it's easier to fit into my macros since it's higher protein, lower carb & sugar, and much lower calorie than regular ice cream.1

If you're doing the Keto diet there are some deserts that have low carbs. Ive been having no sugar added jello with a dollop of whipped cream. You do have to be carful with artificial sweeteners tho because they can knock you out of ketosis.0

Just be sure you have a sufficinet amount of nutrient dense macros0 -
Depends -- is this a medically-directed low-carb diet (e.g., for purposes of controlling blood sugar)? Then no, you should distribute your carbs according to the directions you were given by your doctor or dietician.
If low carb is just something you want to do, then distribute them however you like. Or go over. There are no low-carb police who will come arrest you.0 -

I've never had Arctic Zero but I hear Halo Top is way better. To me it tastes great but you do have to let it warm up a little to soften before eating. I like vanilla and strawberry the best. Don't bother with the salted caramel flavor, that one is gross.0 -

Yeah my other foods are whole real foods like veggies and lean meats & complex carbs, etc. but I do like to make room for some treats. I often do a serving of the vanilla Halo Top with some fresh berries.0
