Binging

I was losing weight steadily for a while, but now I just keep binging. Should I take a break with trying to lose weight, or fight past my binging urges.... Or is it even possible. Any tips anyone?

Make sure you aren't eating too little. A lot of my binges end up being caused by not respecting the journey and trying to go too fast. About 2-3 weeks ago I had three days of binging. I just took it for what it was and moved on. The key is not letting yourself get defeated and "throwing in the towel". It's a minor setback.
Make sure you are eating enough. Look at the timing of your meals (are you going too long between eating and then feel ravenous at the next meal?) and make sure you eat some exercise calories back. Make sure your goal isn't far too aggressive. If you are set to losing 2 lbs a week maybe cut back to 1.5 lbs. Give yourself the extra calories and maybe you won't be as inclined to binge.0 -
What's causing your binges? When are they happening? Are they happening after a stressful day? After a bad day on the scale? When you're just really hungry? I think it depends what's causing your binges. I think its important to get binging under control before continuing on with trying to lose weight in a sense of meticulous calorie counting but instead instilling healthy eating habits that are easier to implement. Sometimes letting weight loss be slow and just focusing on healthy habits can help prevent binges. For example, making small changes a few times a week, drinking more water while not changing other beverage habits, adding a salad to your dinner even with regular portions, practicing mindful eating even when eating what you want.1

Yes they normally are night. I've been feeling stressed about Christmas (I love Christmas but I feel this pressure that everything has to be perfect) and I also typically gain some weight at Christmas so I think I'm nervous about it. Anyways I need to find a solution because if I don't do anything I'll gain weight0 -
The best advice I have received with regard to binging is to log it and move on. That feeling of guilt and shame after a big binge is usually enough to send me into another one. Don't stress over it. It happened now it's time to keep going. I have found that logging it and actually having to see it holds me some what accountable for it and it happens less.2
