I have been hearing alot of good things about Keto. The major benefit of it of course being that you will go into a ketosis state and your body will switch from glucose to stored body fat for energy.

Have you done a keto diet before?
did you find it easy to eat 70% fats in your diet?
How much weight we're you able to shake off?

I feel as though I would need to retrain my brain. Because I always thought of fats being badddd. However with keto I need to eat mostly fat rich foods like nuts, meat, cheese, avo. Etc.

I kind of find it hard. . :p:)

You will probably find a lot of them in the above group.

Also, one semantic correction, your body is always burning and creating new body fat. When you go Keto, you increase fat oxidation because you are eating more fat and you cut carb oxidation. If you had a diet larger in carbs, you would have greater carb oxidation and less fat oxidation. But the net effect of energy balance is really the only thing that matters.

    Hi!!
I'm new to this app so feeling my way around. As for keto, its a dream come true. Addicted to coconut oil inside and out. I've always been a meat eater (tho I am missing the large amount of greens I use to eat). I'm not struggling at all with keto, in fact I go over my fat intake goal slightly (but only took me 2 days to get from trace to medium ketones).... I'm excited, good bye belly fat!!

Wow, it only took you 2 days to get to ketosis? @endure_8 .
Many people I hear complain saying it takes them like a week. It took me about 3 days. I think I'm going to get me those ketone strips to measure.

I have been in ketosis before but never tried the keto diet. I always hate how stinky my breath gets from all the toxins and acetone leaving my body .

What are some of the challenges you perhaps experienced with keto?

Hey all. I really get so frustrated with myself. I eat very low carb for 3-5 days then succumb to temptation and start a carb spree. Will it get easier to stick with LCHF eventually if I can make it longer.

It really depends on you respond. Some will see improvements, others will realize that LCHF or any other particular diet is not for them. I never went LCHF or keto but I did Paleo and I just couldn't do it. The rules just didn't fit well with my personality and once my carbs were only hitting around 170g i really struggled. Alternatively, I found greater success in just tracking calories while having a heavy focus on protein and fiber (highest satiety rating). Another option, is to gradually reduce carbs until you hit a comfortable level where you won't binge/succumb to temptation.

I discovered that between 100 and 150 carbs is good for me. That doesn't mean I have ketosis but it seems to keep my cravings to a normal level so my calories satisfy me. It also means I eat a good amount of fat and protien to make up my day.
  • For those who find it difficult to dive right into the deep end of any type of low or lower carb plan it may be better to ease in allowing your self time to adjust and find your legs so to speak. The way I started was by logging the carbs I was already having each day, then at the end of 7 days took the most common amount and adjusted from there. If it was say, 350 carbs a day I took it down to 300 for a week or so. The next phase I would take it down to 250 for another week or two. Once it got to 150 I decreased in 10-20 g at a time each couple of weeks. Or a person could allow a longer adjustment period between tweaks as needed. This is a slower progression but it really helped when it came to physical adaptation and also in dealing with the general feelings we get when we make a big change. Sometimes it's just easier to make a lot of small adjustments to meet a final goal than it is to just jump right ahead to a very low carb intake.

The breath thing was the sole reason i quit keto/low carb, I and my poor husband put up with it for 4 straight months and it never got any better. I am really anal about oral hygiene and had never suffered from bad breath ever in my life, it totally destroyed my confidence plus i was too scared to talk up close to people.
The weird thing is, is if i have a couple days of eating lower than usual carbs (<120g), the breath thing comes straight back, it's like I've permanently damaged something in me :(

This is something that I have spent the last couple days wondering if this is right for me. Is this a long term type of adjustment or short term?

    Nutritional Ketosis can be either.
