I'm 20 335 pounds 6' 0" male and MFP Has me at 2600 calories a day to lose two pounds a week. I started on Monday and so far with eating eggs rice chicken quite a bit I've managed to get myself up to roughly 1600-1900 calories a day at best. Basically I'm wondering what is the best way to get myself up to my goal calories like other alternative denser calorie foods that aren't terrible for me. as well as if I need to be doing my best to get to the 2600 calories so I don't slow my matabolism?
Thanks in advance for everybody who replys.

Are you only eating eggs, rice, and chicken?
You can eat pretty much anything but it is good to have a nutritionally well rounded diet. There's no need to avoid complete food groups or try to go very low carb or fat.
I eat eggs, toast, fruit, 2% or whole milk, and coffee, coming to about 550-600 calories each morning. For lunch a bunch of raw veggies, full fat cottage cheese, a granola bar, and sometimes cold chicken or a packet of tuna, coming to about 500 calories. Dinner might be spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread for another 650 calories. If I had your calories I'd probably have a small peanut butter sandwich, some pumpkin seeds, and a glass of milk together or separate as snacks during the day.
Now you don't have to eat specifically what I wrote but I'm trying to show you that you can eat very normal foods while losing weight.
Best of luck to you!3 -
What do you mean by food that is completely bad for you? In moderation there are very few foods that are bad for you unless 1) You have a metabolic disease like diabetes 2) You have a food allergy 3) The food triggers you to overeat. In fact, going to what sounds from your description as a very limited diet, you are far more likely to fail to comply to your calorie goal long term.4

Yes. Exactly.1 -
Wow stop and before you go to the list of calorie bombs for people who cannot eat enough. You cannot eat enough because you've called every food you've ever eaten bad and have now decided to eat only good foods.
Since we don't know what you were eating maybe you're right.... but I think we would also be right in assuming that you're not going to spend the next ~70ish years only eating chicken and eggs.
So, like, you're logging your food. You have your goal. Time to explore foods you can eat for many years while eating within your goals.

Double yes. It really comes down to portion size. I eat the same foods at different calorie levels. When I'm cutting calories I'll eat 2 eggs instead of 3, or maybe I'll boil them instead of scrambling them so that I don't have calories from the oil in the pan. Then I might eat one slice of toast instead of 2. In one meal that could save 150-200 calories. If I do that 3x/day it is enough to lose around a pound a week. Little changes add up.0 -
I think your numbers are off. I was 330 am 6' but am older (51) and to lose 2 pounds I never ate at 2600. What do you put in for an activity level? Are you sure you have MFP set for losing 2 pounds?
I'm ~280 now, so down ~50 since the start of September. What I'm trying to do is pretend I'm 220 and eat at that calorie level, but not cutting anything out, just eating less of what I used to. Honestly, that means an occasional Big Mac, small fries and diet coke. That is vs the double Big Mac, supersized with regular coke. An maybe one time every couple of weeks instead of every third day (not always a Big Mac, but drive through somewhere). Instead of a family sized bag of chips over a couple of nights, I have a single serving bag a couple time a week. I'm not big on veggies, but am eating carrots and snap peas as part of my lunch and have a half dozen bananas a week.
Don't make weight loss more difficult then it has to be and don't focus so much on "good" or "bad" foods.
Oh. And I can't stand the taste of eggs so I don't touch them at all. Bleh.0 -

The question you have to ask yourself is can you see yourself eating that small menu of foods for the rest of your life? If you cannot, then start broadening the menu. I lose simply by counting calories. I will have potatoes, various veggies, beef, pork, pizza, pasta, ice cream, and more. I even go out occasionally and have fast food. The difference is I log every thing I eat and drink as precisely as I can, and when I am out of calories for the day, I am done or I exercise some more to get more. That way I basically eat what I expect to eat the rest of my life, and learn appropriate portions.0 -
I had a great steak egg and cheese omelette this morning at around 500 cals . I eat what ever i want just try and make some healthy choices most time . i do have to be careful. around foods i really like that have lots of calories . Like peanut butter, i could eat a half of jar with a spoon , but man the calories . I have heard men need to eat at least 1500 calories , i would love to be able to have your calories maybe some day ?
Good luck0
