iPhone steps and calories burned?!

Do you guys understand more about why the iPhone erases your step calories? Here's a photo:

My iPhone tracks my steps and with work all day I generally will step at least 6,000... but the calorie adjustment confuses me. It's always incredibly low. And if I put my elliptical workout, the walking calories will actually disappear! I've seen it go from 200 to ZERO.
How do I fix it from doing that? I walked over 9000 steps today but it says I burned 437 on the elliptical but only 21 from walking. I like knowing my total calories burned today (the TDEE kinda thing) and my iPhone adjusts this for me and gives me a good number. Today it was about 2500... is that including the steps or is it only including 21 calories of those steps?

I'm having the same issue...have contacted MFP and haven't heard back from them...strangley, walking 6.5 miles and exercising for an hour deducted 230 calories from my total calorie intake for the for the day.

Have you tried disconnecting the Health app from MFP then reconnecting?

What is your activity level set at on MFP?
Is MFP smart enough that if you set it to "active," then it looks at your 10,000 steps and says "that's part of her regular, active life. Those calories are already built into her calorie goal." ??
