I totally blame this on weight loss and fitness and my lack of self control, I have lost so much but the past few months i have developed BED and binge quite badly, I now have an awful relationship with food from constantly counting macros and I feel so ashamed, i obsess ovee it, at times I can binge up to 6000cals in 1 sitting, it needs to stop. I want to take a diet break over christmass but I'm scared I'm gonna take it as a free for all, the past 3 says I have eaten more that 3000cals each day, I really don't want to gain the weight back... I need my relationship with food to be like how it was when I was fat, normal.

Any Advice please...

You posted another thread about your summer job. I think you might need to leave that job, with the drinking and the lack of sleep, before you can be healthy. It's just not a healthy lifestyle.

I've had BED for years. My therapist said that the #1 cause of eating disorders is restrictive dieting. She said this isn't widely known because the studies that say this don't get a lot of attention because dieting is a huge, lucrative industry. I haven't read these studies, but that's what she told me and I trust her.

So, first step, no restrictive dieting.

With MFP, I've been more successful than I ever have been with finding a healthy lifestyle and avoiding binges. I count calories because it gives me perspective. I keep my calories high, 1700-2000, because I need to learn to eat well more than I need to lose weight. And the weight is coming off.

Also, for your other thread, it sounds like you need to stop worrying so much about macros. Balance is important, but first you've got to eat regular, satisfying, and healthy meals. Then, once you're secure in the healthy lifestyle, you can tweak your macros if you want to. I recently started including more protein because it keeps me full.

Good luck! If you can, try to find a therapist, it helped me a lot.

Seek out a therapist. But first stop restrictive dieting. It only fuels BED. I'm a therapist (LISW-S in Ohio) and had clients with this. Make sure the counselor is educated in eating disorders. See a doctor for medications for anxiety or depression if needed.

Know that you are not alone - I am in the same boat as you and there are many more like us out there. It is super hard to break these habits, and I started this account today in hopes that I'll be able to do just that, but we can get through this! It's going to be hard work, but we can make it happen

I share your problem and have done for decades. It's worst when I have been toooo busy and had no time for myself or to spend on my own projects - I start to feel hard done by and deprived, and , hey presto it's binge scenario. I felt it coming on just now and came to the Motivation boards for support! We are not alone, it's a common response to when the going is tough. Just take care of yourself / ourselves and take a moment to find a way to not deprive yourself , to give yourself what you need ( it's probably not excessive food but something else.)

As a 20 year old woman, if you have a fairly active lifestyle 3000 in a day is not that much food, so don't beat yourself up! Depending on your height and current weight, you may be only just a little bit over your maintain-weight calories.

If you have been under-eating for a while, your body is going to be screaming at you to eat, so the first thing is to set your calories realistically.

What is your current weight and height? How much are you trying to lose? How many calories a day are you aiming to eat? What kind of activity do you do on the regular? (Work, school, activities etc.)

I am 5'10" and around 195lbs, the goal is 165lb by summet but I would like to remain withing 165-175lbs... I try to eat between 1800-2000cals a day, and I am quite active, I gym 5/7 days and I train with my sports team twice a week... Christmas has slowed me down though, I have not really been counting macros and I have been overeating... January I will get back to it
