So recently I found this website and began exercising. After researching I realized that my body had not been getting nearly the amount of calories it should have, so I increased it from 800 to 1200-1500 a day. As I begin to lose weight exercising, would gradually increasing my calorie intake to make up for the calories burned by exercise help to boost my metabolism?

Hi - this link contains many articles and topic threads from the MFP website, they are written by many of the trainers and nutrtion folks that hang out here to help folks like us!

Take the time to read through them, at least the original post. Many aspects of losing weight will become clearer and make sense. A little research will go a long way towards your fitness. :smooched:

    Best of luck!

most people normally eat 12-1500 calories a day. 800 cals a day sounds very wrong, no wonder you wern't losing weight, your body is hanging on to everything it's getting.

Anything below 1200 calories a day is considered a starvation diet and will cause your body to hold onto every bit of food you eat. If you do happen to lose weight while doing this as soon as you begin to eat normally you will gain back every bit of weight you lost plus some.
