My fitbit says i walk 4 miles per day. i average about 800 cals per day. wtf am i doing wrong? how can i kickstart the weightloss? I seem to stay static for weeks then drop 5lbs in a day. You really should discuss diet and expectations with your medical team. But yes, weight fluctuates. And no, kickstart to weightloss isn't a thing. If you eat 800 calories per day, you lose weight, rapidly.3

Absolutely discuss with your medical team, you have different factors to deal with post-surgery. There are groups here on MFP for people who have had weight loss surgery. This is a good one - http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband . The people in this group are helpful and understanding, and have been in your shoes, so they can offer advice and perspective.4

1) If anyone ate 800 calories consistently, they would lose weight
2) If you don't lose for a week then drop "5lbs in a day", you are losing weight
Weight loss is not quick or linear. Just because you had surgery doesn't mean that the rules of weight loss don't apply to you.7 -

For the most part this is true, but there are certain specific guidelines that surgery patients need to follow.
Also, stalls post surgery are super common. If you do what you are supposed to do, the "stall" will pass and the weight loss will resume. The loss is not always consistent. You need to have some patience and trust the process.3 -
1) anyone who gives absolutes is just ignorant. why is it hard to believe i eat 800 cals per day? my stomach is literally 1/4 the size of yours. you obviously have nothing to add to the conversation about post bariatric surgery.
2) I said weeks not a week. like 3-4 weeks static then one day i will drop weight.0 -

If you had bariatric surgery, it would be safe to assume that you are overweight and probably obese. Even the lightest adults, consuming 800 calories a day would lose weight.
Secondly as I said in my response; weight loss is not linear.
@garber6th I'm struggling to see where I mentioned anything about guidelines that patients should follow?1 -

Not saying you did mention anything. I mentioned it.1 -
So you've lost 24lbs since your surgery two months ago? I don't see the problem here?
And to reiterate, just because the scale stays the same, doesn't mean you aren't losing weight. Scales are just a metric but an inaccurate one as they don't know what's fat loss/gain and water weight fluctuations which everybody experiences and can mask fat loss.4 -

This-that's 12lbs a month, which is pretty aggressive. OP-it sounds like you may have unrealistic expectations of what should be happening now-I'd talk to your doctor and have him/her help you navigate through this.3 -

Did nobody on your care team mention that many who have weight loss surgery go back to overeating at some point? Maybe not so soon after, but at some point. The size of your stomach only limits volume of food, not the number of calories. Making wls work requires a lifetime of vigilance.3
