I feel a little down. First time today since i started my challenge. Went over 707. It was a yummy meal.

I don't really have unexpected overages so it doesn't bother me. Also, I aim for a weekly average but try not to go too extreme on underages/overages on a daily basis. I like to keep it within 300 calories on either side.2

I feel a little disappointed in myself. But it's forgotten by the next day and i keep chugging along. Nobody is perfect, and there will come a time for absolutely everyone where they cant perfectly follow their calories, that's life
At least your meal was yummy, it's even more annoying when you go over with something that just was not worth the calories!7 -

Agreed. If it happens, pick up and move on. One day isn't a big deal.2 -
Too full3

The only time I feel down about it is if it was just a huge waste. Like I was just mindlessly eating crap I don't even like or want. If I have something really tasty it's worth it and I don't feel bad. Life's too short to not enjoy that fabulous piece of chocolate cake from time to time.4

I don't worry about it as long as I stay within my maintenance calories for the week, as I won't be gaining weight from it. the worst thing that will happen is one week longer to reach my goal.1
-
I try to look at my overall week and it never looks that bad. I do hate those angry red numbers MFP shows though.5
-
I balance it out for the week and don't worry Day by day. Tuesday I had a plate of cookies that brought me to nearly 4K for the day. The rest of the week I was at goal and today, way under (ran 10 miles). So for the week, I'm just 25 calories over my goal.7

OP, three days ago you posted that you've always got calories left at the end of the day because you're not hungry. Check your weekly net total and try to reach your goals over a week. If you're under-eating by a lot on some days, that may explain why you went over today...but it might all work out right over 7 days.8
-
No biggie. It is just one day.
Log it and move on. Don't beat yourself up.CurlyCockney wrote: »OP, three days ago you posted that you've always got calories left at the end of the day because you're not hungry. If you go over in calories one day, sleep well and don't go over the next day. If you do go over the next day, sleep well and don't go over the next next day. Eventually, you don't go over and you can conserve the nexts. When you get good at not going over, you lose weight.4

Just don't sweat it and keep it rolling. One day isn't going to hurt you as much as you think, its when you do this consistently is when it hurts. If its something that bothers you that much tho just go do some cardio and burn it off.2

That's the part you picked up on? Do you want responses or do you just want to ask questions?
As it so happens, I (like many others) responded to your previous thread(s). My memory is bad, but not so bad that I can't remember an active thread that I responded to a couple of days ago. If it helps you though, skip over that part of my response and read the rest.6 -
Go to the app
Go to reports
Check out net calories report over last 7 days
Post the picture1 -
I feel great -because my goal is to gain weight. If I go under for one day I don't worry - one day makes little difference if the overall trend is what you're aiming for0

I feel ok. I just eat less the next day0

Fat and disappointed with myself1

To be fair you do post quite a lot, and this is a "community" where people read and interact and remember each other.10 -
When I was actively losing weight, I didn't go over my calories ever. That would have defeated the purpose.
When I moved to maintenance, I didn't care if I went over my calories.1 -

Me too. I work in a fine dining establishment, and there is almost always some plate of something in the back office. If I have some (or I score something from the kitchen during meal service) and it blows me away, calories be damned. It was worth the extra calories. If I eat something and it's meh, then I feel a little ridiculous for "wasting" the calories.3 -

This seems backwards to me. When actively losing there is a deficit built into your calorie target so if you go over one or two days in the week it's possible to still be in deficit for the week. In maintenance, for me, I'm more careful about those overages because I know I don't have that buffer to offset. Saying I don't care about going over cals in maintenance seems like a slippery slope to actual weight gain.7 -

OP started a separate thread to figure out how to do this.3 -
700 calories prob puts you around maintenance calories for the day, and will barely impact weight loss, so don't sweat it!0

Nobody said dont post what you want - they just said they use info from your other threads to factor in to answers in new threads.
Not sure why you would object to that.
I feel nothing in particular when I go over my calories - either my losing calories ( when I was losing) or now, my maitenance calories.
In fact, I go over many days - and under on other days. I don't expect every day to be exact same calorie amount because : Life: it is variance.
I do like my weekly calories to be round about where they should be, preferably little bit under for 'safety net'
