I've learned a major life lesson at 40 ... Which I probably should have learned years ago but what the heck... Many therapy bills and failed "diets" later, I have learned the valuable lesson of being honest with yourself.
Nobody gives a s**t if my calorie intake was way over budget! Lol... There's not a special trophy that is going to be handed to me because my tracker is perfect! There is no such thing... lol...
The only person I was fooling was myself, FOR YEARS, mind you.
If I have a donut, I track it, if I have a Klondike bar , I track it, etc (fill in the blank

This is so true. I can't stick with WW also has it's too expensive hen you are not losing weight, I hate the sitting through the class and hearing the same story's. I've been on here for over three years and lost 48lbs, still a way to go but like you wish I had done it many years ago, but at 69 I'm still trying. Good luck3

It only took you 40 years to figure that out? You're doing great! Most people never figure it out. (And lest I sound smug, it took me even longer ).

I used to throw tracking out the window when the PMS binge fairy stopped by. I now track the binge. ALL of it. It certainly was an eye opener. I had no idea how fast I could put down 2 days worth of calories. I have improved because I now try to fill in with things that make me feel full so while I still want to stuff my face at least I can hold off on eating every single thing that isn't nailed down.4

That's how I felt with WW... I'm just going to be blunt and say it too... I was sick and tired of the same people talking about the same issues they have week over week. Well, "Susan" maybe you should listen and change a behavior, instead of weighing in every Sunday morning and sitting there with your Dunkin' Donuts breakfast sandwich!
The leader I had was good. I understand the struggle she must have had trying to engage the 50 other people in her group and ignoring "Susan's" hand going up every 2 minutes to ask the same question. The class is only 30 minutes.
Wasn't up for it anymore. I'm going to keep moving forward. Congrats on your success and future success. It truly is a self journey ...1 -

LOL I've never done weight watchers, but i know going to meetings would be annoying, and that points system thing would do my head in...2 -

LOVE it!! Yep, that pesky PMS binge... I know it all too well... LOL... The, "Oh well, I just ate a whole large bag of peanut M&M's and topped it off with some Taco Bell but I don't need to worry about that now, I have PMS, the scale will somehow know that"...LOL.... Aaahhhhh, self justification 101... Tracking is the only cure for my denial... LOL... Now, I do exactly what you said, Track it ALL... Right down to the "Whoops, when I cut the cake for my friends birthday, it didn't cut evenly sooo, there's an extra little piece just sitting there that clearly cannot go to waste" - keeps me honest

YES !!!!! Those damn "Susan's" and their relentless pursuit to distract. ..LOL ... Honestly though, I have related it to AA/NA...We are all addicts in some way or another, foid, drugs, alcohol, people pleasing, etc.... The philosophy is all the same. But if you're at a self help meeting, like WW, and you actually pay to be there, it should be more formatted so the "Susan's" who clearly need one on one attention, can get it and the others can either listen to the lesson or be engaged in a way that is productuve. Any substance abuse meeting is free and much more organized. Just sayin' - Food for thought

Hahaa! I have never been to WW either. Sure sounds different than I imagined. I love that part about the piece of cake that can't go to waist. That's me, and I log it too. I hate those red number though.1

Very true! I never done WW or any diets, but wish I understood CI/CO a long time ago.
If I want to maintain my weight I'm going to have to be aware of the calories I'm consuming.
Also I need to weigh things out like peanut butter or my unsalted cashews. It's way too easy for me to overeat.
Tracking (and planning) makes it so easy for me to fit things in without guilt!4 -
I agree that tracking is essential and being honest about it, even more so. I still struggle today with that (and I've lost the weight I wanted to). If I have a "bad" day, I am loathe to go into my diary and add those things. I don't know why, I"m still trying to get past that. The point is, I am making myself DO IT instead of giving up tracking which is what I've done in the past. It's okay to go over some days, what's not okay is to let it derail you and, for me, the first step of derailment is not putting it in the diary. Very slippery slope there!!! So, yes, TRACK, TRACK, TRACK everything. See it all, the good and the bad, right in front of you.1
