Am i doing something wrong because i usually only born 300-400 and i feel i work hard.

Nah.
I burn around 350-400 for a 30-35 minute elliptical workout where I vary the resistance. I don't think I would have the stamina for a 1,000 calorie workout.2 -
It depends on a lot! What exercises, you're doing, amount of time, your current weight, gender, etc.
My hubby and I workout together, and he'll easily double my calorie burn.1 -

I do not do gym at all, I do it all on my own, I easily can do 1000 a day, cardio rocks! outside only5

Many people are actually overestimating their burn, as already stated. Some people are spending a LOT of time working out to get those numbers. Gender and size are also a factor. You aren't doing anything wrong!4

I ask because as a male at my weight an hour bike ride at a fairly brisk pace will get me close to 1000. If I either up the pace of increase the time 1000 calories is not that hard for me to get to. However, a female with much less weight than me would struggle to do the same, and would have to put in much more time to get to 1000.3 -

I can burn a thousand calories hiking for 2 hours up a mountain with an elevation gain of 2000' in a little over 2 miles. Am I comfortable eating those calories back? Hell no. There's too many variables that affect those calorie numbers. To do that same workout on my treadmill would take me all day. Or at least I'd be so bored it would seem like it was taking all day.3

Yes and stair master and elliptical
Elliptical calorie numbers, that is those from the actual machine, are some of the most inaccurate ones out there for machines. The most accurate are generally treadmills or high quality exercise bikes that have a power meter. I am guessing the higher end rowing machines would be up there for accuracy as well since they also have power meters. I have no idea where stair masters rate.7 -

OP, use yourself to compare and improve. 300 calls this week; make your goal to hit 315 calories next week, and so on. It is very motivating to see personal progression and you will surprise yourself six months from now.4 -
Stop worrying so much about what other people are doing, what you're seeing posted on IG, etc.
What you need to do is simple. Set a reasonable goal and an appropriate calorie target. Eat a variety of foods that provide nutrition, satiety, and enjoyment within that calorie target. Log everything accurately and honestly, ideally using a food scale. Exercise if you enjoy it, being conservative with estimating your calorie burns and deciding how much to eat back. Be consistent and patient. Monitor your actual results over periods of weeks or months and make adjustments accordingly.
Stop getting so fixated on quick fixes, different methods, and what you hear other people are doing. Just stay the course.24 -

I use a fitbit to track my burn, but yes they can burn 1,000 cals at the gym. I actually walked fast pace outside and only jogged a short distance and burned 7661

I can burn 1000 easily but i'm obese. It's also not a good idea for me to do it too often for that same reason. Too much walking/running hurts my knees really bad =( So i just try to get my 30mins, 5 days a week and stay under my calorie goal... but there are those few days i go hiking with friends every so often, and that's when i hit 1000-1500cals.. it's just not necessary though.5

Calorie burn is a function of your weight as well. So the larger you are the more calories they will burn. So if you've been at this for a while and have dropped weight your cal burn will decrease.

I just skied for just under an hour and burnt 493 calories. I do have days where I've burnt upwards of 4500 calories but that is backpacking 8-10 hours with significant elevation gain. Your are burning a normal amount.
It's not easy to compare person to person, men will burn more as will people who weight more. You are doing great.4 -
1000 cals is possible, based on length, intensity and body size. If its a machine read out, I would bet that it is overestimated.2

Whereas if you did 30 minutes, you wouldn't.1 -
I can burn 1000 calories from just walking, at a fast pace However it takes me longer than a couple hours.2

If I run pretty hard on a treadmill (5'11'', 180 lbs), according to my garmin I will burn approximately 700-750 calories in an hour. Some people may burn 1000 calories +, but my guess is most of them are overestimating their burn.0

I jokingly call a day spent spotting and loading 1000 calories. And comp days in general. Do I really think it's anywhere near that? Nope. But it feels like it.
Track your numbers. Adjust based on your real world results. Profit.2 -
As a 6'3" over 200lb guy, it's pretty easy to burn 1000+ calories in an hour of heavy exercise. Smaller people with less muscle-mass .... not so much.3

People are probably overestimating their burns. My treadmill will give me a 450 or 500 calorie burn for a 5 mile run and my Fitbit something similar, but when I use the formula weight x 0.6 x miles, I end up with less than a 350 calorie burn.
