Ingesting essential oils can be dangerous if not done under the care of a certified aromatherapist. I would be cautious.6

You cannot detox your body unless you have ingested something toxic/overdosed/are an addict. In which case what you need is medical attention not an essential oil that does nothing to clean anything internally. It's not a thing.4 -

If it works for you to suppress your appetite and consume no more than your calorie goal in a day, then great!
But as @VintageFeline said, detoxing in this context isn't a thing. Your liver and kidneys do a great job on their own. If they don't, you need to see a doctor, not consume essential oils. I also doubt a single drop of any part of a lemon has significant antiviral action.2 -

Unless you're in liver/kidney failure, the only detoxing that actually works' done; in a hospital because otherwise our, bodies detox; us naturally! If 1 believes that, any other form of detoxing works it's actually a; placebo effect! Meaning that it doesn't work but your crediting it, rather than what actually; did work/cause the favorable outcome instead!3 -
Ah the great OP deletion trick.8

Well, that wasn't confusing at all...3

Before it was edited, this post was about ingesting lemon essential oils for everything from appetite suppression to detoxifying the body. OP went back and retroactively changed the title and the content of the original post after seeing the responses (and undoubtedly the flags) she was getting.5 -

Yes, I'm aware of that and I never said this thread deserved to be flagged. I was merely offering a possible explanation to someone as to why the title and content of the thread were changed.4 -

Just in case anyone isn't totally clear on this: don't ingest essential oils. Some of them have active ingredients that can be toxic. It isn't even advisable to rub them directly on the skin unless you know what you are doing - for massage etc they are generally diluted, e.g. with olive oil. I don't know about lemon oil specifically, as it's an extract from an edible fruit it may be fine, but in general, just don't do this.
Also, don't detox, it can lead to a deficiency of money in your wallet.5 -
No idea what happened in here, but I'll just drop this link in case it's useful: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1159755/looking-for-a-detox-cleanse/p11
