Hi guys, can anyone help me? I'm new to this... I've meal prepped my lunch and it turns out it's around 650 calories. Is that too many calories if I'm looking to lose weight? I'm looking to have 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fats...

As long as it fits your daily calories it is fine.

Why would it be too many calories? I seriously doubt MFP's goal for you is 650.

It depends on how many calories you have a day, how many calories you ate for breakfast and how many you plan for dinner.

Basically you need to do some sort of planning either pre logging or mental rundown of what you plan to eat for the day to determine if a 600 calorie lunch is too much so you don't run out of calories at the end of the day.

    Does this help?

Overall, no. But if you find yourself lacking calories in the evening, then you may want to look into something to cut out or substitute.

She's just talking about lunch, not total calories a day.

That's my point, though. The 650 cal lunch means diddly squat without context, ie, what the OP's calorie goal is.

Depends on the rest of your day's calories. Does it fit in your calorie goal? If yes, it is fine. If no, then you either need a smaller lunch or less calories elsewhere.

Depends on the way of eating you prefer and how many calories you have per day. For me, it'd be a little high. I could definitely DO it. But I wouldn't get any dessert. And I like dessert.

It depends on your week. Not one meal on one day. Did you stay in a deficit for the week?

    Yeah 650 is seriously unhealthy.

As long as your other meals plus lunch add up to your daily calorie goal (or less) you're good.

Your daily intake, or even average daily intake if you vary your intake through the week, is what matters. What is your height and weight, and your calorie goal? Are you logging accurately and consistently? That is what matters.

Is the macro split just for lunch? If not, you are making things really hard for yourself. MFP's default is good enough as a starting point. Unnecessarily extreme plans tend to fail.

Like everyone else has stated, it's the overall calorie goal for the entire day that is important. As long as you eat at, or slightly less than, your daily calorie goal, you will be okay.
