Sounds good. AS young as you are, sure. My doc said my max heart rate should be 220- my age. Keep it up!0

Been working at that rate (with a personal trainer) - and even up to 178 for the past 10 months, and have not keeled over yet - so I suppose it is safe....
No seriously - as long as you feel comfortable it is fine - keep looking for signs like dizziness, feeling faint etc and stop if your body indicates it is struggling too much..... the key is how quickly your HR drops once you stop the exercise you are doing...if it tarts going down immediately then you are mostly fine.0 -
195 bpm is the "limit" of what is considered safe.0

Heck yeah, at your age. Actually, at my age, I spend quite a bit of my work out at that range, though it is at the dead end of lactate threshold and bordering on just plain old vo2 max for me.0 -
Yes, it is safe. I would only be concerned if your heart rate gets in excess of 185 or so. Keeping it up that high could be dangerous for long periods. So just make sure to bring it down when you see it get that high.0

Yep, it's fine. My max is 153 but I'm older.0

The general rule is:
220 - age in your case 220- 25 = 195
Times the rate you want to work out at [low intensity or high].
65 % being low
85% being high
As far as what's safe, that I can't answer.0 -
I'm 34 years old 5'6.5" and 120lbs and my HR goes from 150-175 during cardio. I think it's fine. I say if you can handle it and feel ok while working out... go for it! Your body will let you know if you are overdoing it.0

It is unlikely that you are headed for cardiovascular collapse at 171, however, you may well be past your ability to metabolize and properly ventilate wastes. That is lactate and ventilitory threshold. Maybe train a bit at a lower heart rate, until you get past feeling dizzy.0 -
well i mean its an up down thing.. i cant stay at 171 for an hour.. but i go 5 min then fall back down then go back up for five then back down ... i get to worn out to stay at that HR on the treadmill...
on the elliptical i can keep it up like that and be fine... no dizzy or anything0
