*UP FOR ADOPTION - one NOOB Asian Female*
-THE SITCH: Over the last 8+ years, gained 2 kids (almost 8 & 3) and about 25 lbs. Love the former but the latter NOT SO MUCH. Lost time for myself, gained some bad (old) eating habits.
-KICK IN THE PANTS MOMENT: realizing I'm turning 40 in 27 days (but who's counting) - I want to be a Fab40 not a Fat40. I've earned every one of those years and want to kick off the second half of my life in the best shape physically and mentally.
- STATs: 5'5" /161-163 lbs (depends on time of day)
- GOAL: 132 - 135 lbs - this was the weight where I was the happiest. I was eating sensibly and working out a few times a week but not making myself crazy watching everything I ate. I have started food logging again but after a few weeks, it gets really old.
Looking for a mentor to inspire me to find time for myself again, suggest healthy south asian foods if possible (I've tried salads but at the end of the day, my diet has to be culturally appropriate to be a lasting change), and to hold me accountable for slacking. Fingers crossed that this Golden Unicorn holding a Four-Leaf Clover exists!3 -
I would love a mentor. Here's my blurb:
Brand new to this as of today. 32 year old female who has always been naturally thin. Had two back-to-back (very) recent miscarriages which changed my body drastically. Am seeking advice on nutrition and fitness from another female who is also TTC as I go through the process of testing and treatment with a reproductive endocrinologist. Let me know!3 -

In need of a mentor/tutor. I've tried losing weight about 3 years ago to the Xbox Biggest Loser and did a pretty good job until we got downstairs neighbors and they started to complain about the jumping around. I've had a lot of difficult obstacles since then and gained all my pounds back and then some. I'm at 240 right now and would like to get down to a desired weight of 180/190. I work at a casino so I have a graveyard shift and I also have a son that I pick up from school everyday so it cuts into my sleep. I'm also a huge super nerd so nothing really phases me as far as nerdiness goes. Would like to do some cosplay someday when I get to my goal weight.2

I'm a 31 yo female. I'm an attorney so I sit most of the day at work, and my evenings are spent chasing my 2 yo and 8 yo stepson. Over the last 3 years I've gained 40 pounds (the last 10 were only since November). Weight loss is a huge struggle for me. I've dieted, counted calories and macros, gone paleo, etc. I find my biggest problems to be 1-motivation/will power and 2-Binge eating. This is my last time trying to lose the weight because I'm determined to be successful. I'm sick of worrying about how bad I look all the time. I currently weigh 160 and am on the very high end of the overweight BMI scale. I need to lose 40 pounds and even had my doctor tell me so today. As for exercise, for the past year I had a trainer 3 days a week. Again, I wasn't really losing weight, but I gained a lot of muscle and strength and was at least looking more toned. Trainer quit in November. I have a treadmill and workout videos so now my exercise will be at home.
I'd love a mentor who has struggled with binge eating and overcome it, also someone who has successfully done workouts at home. I know what I NEED to do, but I fall off the wagon so easily and need help staying motivated even when I hit a plateau.2 -

I have used MFP. But then derailed after I lost the weight. , I'm 23 and BMI Is 30.
I would really like a mentor to show me the proper way of clean eating, how to lose and maintain weight most important.
Also some tips on nutrition and what to eat , meal prep would be extremely helpful.

I would love to be adopted / mentored. My biggest challenges are finding the time to work out in a hectic schedule, avoid stress eating and making healthy eating choices, and dealing with very little sleep.

I'm a 55 year old male who spent his entire adult life obese. 5 years ago I got my head screwed on straight, and have lost over 100 pounds and have gone from sitting on the couch eating whole pizzas to 1000 miles of running, walking, biking last year. I'm a type 2 diabetic and am no longer taking insulin to control it. I'd love to pass on some of what I've learned these last 5 years.16

About me,
My name is sameer and i am 28 years old, and i am new to MFP, my height is 5.8 and my current weight is 100.8 kg and i am from Dubai ( U.A.E) ,and i really want to get rid of this weight and I would be very happy if i will get a nice mentor.
There was a time i was very active in my exercises, i was regular to gym and soccer playing but due to my shift duties and less rest i got lazy and stopped working out and gained huge amount of weight. (23kgs)
i am really hard working person , i just need right guidance to achieve my goal and i hope i will get a right mentor here.

Here's a little bit about why and what my goals are.
My name is Natasha , I am 21 years old. I am 5'2 ,175 pounds and feeling overwhelmed by the weight i have gained. My healthy weight is 155 pounds. I am a single mother to a two year old but after having my daughter i still cannot loose the weight. I am now doing IF (fasting) . I am tracking my weight, calories, steps, and exercise. I have successfully lost 6 pounds already but i want to loose the last 20 needed to be at my goal. I am confident i can do it but i really want someone to push me as well.2 -
I don't know about adopted. I mean I'm kinda old for that, and I wouldn't get you much on your taxes. But I definitely could use someone checking on me periodically. I turn 40 in 70 days. (Not that I'm counting) I had this idea a few months ago I'd lose 40 pounds by my 40th. I've lost 9 and a half lol. So I don't think that's happening. But I'm focused on making a healthier life style. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and now I'm a cop. I work a desk assignment so I have to motivate myself to get moving and eat right. Been too easy to go in on the office lunch order.2

I would be happy to help a new member get started. I'm 47, currently 185lbs, 6'2" tall. I started on February 14th, 2015 at 305 lbs and lost approximately 115lbs my first year. My overall loss was 126 lbs total, and I've maintained my weight for the last six months or more. I work out about five times a week for pretty long sessions early in the mornings. I've used MFP's wizard and tools to lose the majority of my weight, as well as tools around the web to tweak my macros over time. I've been both a paid and a free user of MFP and would even be happy to help someone who's wrestling with that decision as well. I've made mistakes, and I've learned from them. I even injured myself last year twice with too steep of a deficit for my height/weight as well as over exercising. I have a bad back (previous surgery), and bad knees (also previous surgery). Arthritis in both, yet thanks to MFP I'm likely in some of the best shape of my life. If I can be of help to someone who's new feel free to send me a friend request. I will warn you, any suggestions I have will probably be coupled with a deficit as well as exercise. Exercise is not a requirement to lose weight, but the benefits outweigh everything in my humble opinion. I also do not lift weights, I do purely body weight exercise and cardio, and I do it at home or at the park in the spring/summer/fall. I've never joined a gym and don't intend to do so. I also was a smoker for 22 years. I quit about seven years ago using electronic cigarettes and could not be happier. I stopped using the e-cigs about two years ago as well. I stay active daily here on MFP, and intend to stay a member for the next few years, if not longer.5

I'm UK based (if that matters on the internet), a qualified PT and am pretty easy going (unless you are a demented lunatic stalker).
I don't live on MFP so I probably won't respond every few hours but I do log in daily so you shouldn't have to wait long for a response.
Please PM me if you would like some help. I'll be up front and say I'm not the guy for you if you're determined to eat 1200 calories without having sought professional medical advice, believe that carbs are evil in all forms, that you shouldn't eat eggs because they contain cholesterol or you are determined to follow some weird diet that demands you eat nothing but 8 apples per day and drink nothing but smoothies made from strained kale juice and unicorn farts or something. Probably can't help anyone with a man bun on principle really either (joking).
I am maybe the guy for you if you want help losing weight, don't know where to start, have read at least one of the pinned most helpful posts links in this forum (even if you have questions about it) and want some general help. This may seem all demandy (not really a word) but those posts will answer most of your questions and are written by folks who know what they're talking about.
Happy to help, advise, motivate, encourage and support you if you think we'd get along.
I'd appreciate it if you're in for the long haul even if that's only a few pounds and you will probably need a sense of humour if for no other reason than losing weight is simple but not easy and having a laugh helps ease the passage of time and fibre.8 -

I started off thinking the key to fitness was being a cardio bunny and eating as minimally as possible, until I hit 95 lbs. and still was not at my "ideal" body. Did my research, started eating more protein, lifting heavy and now a year-and-a-half later, here I am. I have achieved success through nutrition education, a little assistance from a trainer (and my orthopedic doc, thanks to foot problems) and my own curated lift program. I have an extremely busy schedule with a 3-hour commute, 9-hour work day and doing homeowner/girlfriend errands, but I always make time for fitness and health. I'm a proud fur mama to the funniest duo, Ote (4 lb. Chihuahua) and Dutch (145 lb. - still growing - Bullmastiff). All my lifts are powered by Starbuck's!

230 pounds currently, I wish to lose about 80+ pounds but I am starting with a 30 pound goal just to get myself motivated to lose more. I am also a mother of two beautiful girls and my wish is to play more outside with them. I need help with exercises I can do because last year I injured my knee and still have to wear a brace to hold the patella in place. I have been cleared to do light exercises with it but still unsure what that means.1 -
I would be able to help someone along. I am 47, male married with college kids. 2..5 years ago I got upwards of 250 and decided to really go at it. I am down 75lbs and in the greatest shape of my life. It's hard but it's also easy. Daily dedication.3

Would love to be adopted!! I'm 21 with an ultimate goal of 150. To reach that goal I have to lose 20 pounds. I know it's not a lot, but it's a stubborn 20 pounds!! I work out okay, but I would love some guidance to workouts. I also would love some help with food and food choices. I cook when I'm at school, but I would love to cook some delicious healthy food! Logging my food, even though it's only been a few days, has been so helpful with not over eating, but I definitely want to lose the weight. Message me!0

I am going to go ahead and put my self out there, and say I would love to be adopted..
Due to unhealthy eating habits and bed rest on pregnancy, I gained approximately 80 lbs this past two years. My short term goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week (CICO, clean eating, workout regime), and long term is about 120 lbs or so. My wedding is February 2018, which has really jump started my motivation, but I need more than that. I want to feel healthy for a long time not just a year.0 -

Hi, I'm not super new to MFP or weight loss, but I could definitely use the right mentor for support. I am a 32F and my husband and I live in Mongolia (and it's nothing like Mongolian BBQ you get in America). I started MFP years ago at 195 lbs, lost 30 but while I was working 80+ hours a week put it back on quickly. Prior to MFP I did Livestrong, and before that, paper journals. Last year I rejoined MFP after finding out living in Mongolia is not as magical as living in Nepal where I lost 50 pounds (as a vegetarian living at high altitude with a Parasite) but was cycling in my weight so I got serious. I lost that 30 pounds easily right away again (about 90 days) but then with a busy summer stayed there the rest of the year. But I go visit America in November and want to be 120-125 when I get there and have a goal to lose 1 pound a week. I prefer my mentor to be female, as I also struggle with some health issues like endometriosis, an injured ankle, and a lot of back and joint pain (very recently). But I don't believe in excuses, believe in 100% honesty and integrity, track diligently measuring with a scale and using my Apple Watch for calories burned, believe in the 3500 calorie math and am not afraid to be honest with myself. I require grace - with that one serving of chocolate per day, best if in the form of Oreos. It's my comfort away from home and a psych thing for me. No more food after the Oreos and I'm pretty satisfied with that. I'm hoping for a cheerleader who will also remind me that it's not just about calories but healthy choices and getting some protein too, and who will understand when I post a quick calories with that note of "I have no idea how much sheep's fat I was responsible to consume today at that meeting". Hopeful for a good match - I'd be really appreciative of someone to connect with - primarily for motivation and accountability.0

I would appreciate being adopted by a mentor. I'm 46 with asthma so exercising is a bit of a challenge (though I'm improving that little by little). I've tried WW multiple times with little success. CW=244.6 GW=195. My biggest trouble area is in stress/boredom eating late at night. Ideally, I'd like to lose about 1.5lbs per week on average.
My main goal is to drop 50 pounds and build some functional body strength with increased lung strength by eating lean meats, fruits and veggies and doing a combination of cardio and body weight strength training.0 -
