Keto Way of Eating

Hi, I am using the Keto Way of Eating to not only loose weight but also to change my life. I want to become stronger in my retirement years. Life gets easier after retirement but we have to work on our bodies to maintain strength plus keeping the weight off. Just wondering if there are others out there on this way of eating?

Me! Low carb, if not actual keto. It helps stablise my blood sugar and stops me getting hypo attacks. I do mostly paleo/ primal and it helps my ibs and migraines too. My sis and i made exceptions for xmas and both felt lousy- headaches and digestive issues. It was the same last year. Took two weeks to feel back to normal. Lesson learned - hopefully!

My biggest downfall is chocolate. I cheated over Christmas as well but have been back on keto since. I have been trying to live by low carb for several years. Overall, we eat healthy but when we cheat it is big. I am trying to overcome that by making sure I have some sweet fat bombs in the fridge.

I am working on trying the Ketosis diet but I keep failing. I know the key is a healthy Kale, Spinach & fruit shake but I have lacked the motivation to do it. I make it to the gym a few times a week & about work now but I know I need to do the shake twice a day so I can lose the weight.

Hi wowladie, Keto way of eating is low carb high fat. I don't drink and shake or smoothies. You eat lots of meat including bacon and vegies plus nuts are included. I put a link to a group in facebook you may want to check out. When you go to these groups check out the pinned topics at the top of their page. It has some valuable info on Keto way of eating. The stories of people and their journey on keto is motivating. Let me know if you if you go this route and I can be a support person for you.

I've been low carb since before the holidays and I'm trying to transition to Keto. I just set up my macros on here and started tracking yesterday. I think that my biggest challenge will be keeping my protein in check since with low carb I've been having lean protein more than Keto calls for.

I am at a point of not being very hungry and I am not meeting my macro's. I am below on carbs and everything. I read on another facebook group that eat when you are hungry and not worry about the numbers. I am going to try this for a bit since I'm not hungry and see how it goes. I'll keep you updated.

I'm going for low carb too - mainly to help stabilise my blood sugars and help with my overall diabetic control. I find that it's much more satisfying eating a high protein/fat to low carb diet and am fuller for longer :-) best of luck to you all and happy to friend for motivation and support

I have not been very hungry and am thinking about fasting. Will probably do some homework before starting this. Anyone else done fasting?

I too have found the most success with low carb. There is a very big and active fb low carb group if you are on fb.

I do intermittent fasting. 16 hours of fasting and an 8 hour eating window. Helps a lot in my opinion. I once fasted a whole day because when my eating window rolled around I wasn't hungry. I don't do it often though.

    Hi-
I maybe explained what I am doing wrong before. This is what I found on Live Strong
(http://www.livestrong.com/article/553603-how-long-does-it-take-for-the-ketosis-diet-to-work/). I did pretty good today with a ton of Lemon water & plain water & a veggie sandwich w/a handful of Kale. I went to the gym & ate after I returned home. I feel pretty awesome. I also found a lot of food that I could eat during this time as well.

There's a few keto chocolate bars on the market like Libby's. Also, any 90% cocao will be low on sugar like Lindts and can be found everywhere. Can make some awesome deserts with them plus stevia and cream cheese and still stick to your macros!

Hey everyone! I sent friend requests to all of you. Please feel free to add me if I missed anyone! I've been low carb for 37 days and have lost over 17 pounds (through the holidays mind you! :)). I'm trying to keep up the momentum and find new friends with similar diets!

I plan on starting on Monday since my husband will be at work and I only have to cook one meal. I have done plenty of 13 hr fast but nothing more than that. Here's hoping that I can do this on Monday.

Yep got the request. I have been doing low carb off and on for several years but hoping to make this a way of life. Great job on the 17 lbs! Don't get discouraged if it tapers off a bit. Do you do fat bombs yet?

I make sweet fat bombs but my biggest problem is people coming over for a meal and bring a box of chocolates. I usually put them out for everyone hoping that they will eat them up. I am trying to not eat anything that is processed and have been making most things from scratch. I use liquid stevia now which I like. The main thing is to not put too much of it in any sweet.

WOW, went to a family function today and man it was really hard. Not for what I wanted but trying to figure out what to eat. I finally ended up with some crab salad, a small tossed salad and two sausages grilled. Didn't eat much tonight and my numbers just barely came through with 1 carb remaining. I do well below my macros when at home but when you go out to someone else's home it hard.
