Fats and carbs and calories?

If a person used ALL their daily calories by only eating chocolate, would they still lose weight if they stayed in their calorie range? (Because of the fat and carbs?)

OR, do "we" only go by the calorie count? No need to count fats and carbs?

I'm just starting this journey and need to lose 55 pounds and NO NO NO...I have no intention of just eating chocolate, just using that as an EXAMPLE!

Yes. You would lose weight if in a deficit no matter what you eat. Of course you would end up malnourished and probably lose a lot of muscle instead of fat.

You'd get sick probably and as my mother would say, "turn into chocolate", but yeah you'd lose weight. Through deficit and probably diarrhea.

Calories are what matter for weight loss. Carbs and fats and individual foods consumed certainly play a factor in overall nutrition and satiety but a calorie deficit is what is required for weight loss.

I don't find these extreme examples helpful since no one would actually eat nothing but chocolate and it tends to start some bickering here.

Whilst you'll lose weight in a deficit, I'd suggest tracking protein and fats to make sure you're getting at least the minimum requirements for these two mactonutrients. What you do with the rest of your calories is up to you...

I'm not trying to cause any bickering...being new to counting calories, I have many questions about this way of life. I tried to state this was just using chocolate as an EXAMPLE.

    I'm sorry this offended you.

@WinoGelato wasn't specifically stating that you were causing any bickering, she was stating that listing extremes has a tendency to....excite some. it's cool.

Actually @WinoGelato is unlikely to be offended because she knows that yes, you can eat ALL DA CHOCOLATE (within the limits of your calories to meet your goals) or ALL DA BURGERS (within the limits of your calories to meet your goals) and you WILL LOSE WEIGHT!

Sorry, I've eaten all the chocolate. None left for anyone else.
    Ever.
