Burning Ketones & Gaining Weight! HELP

Hey guys
I've been burning for awhile and have jumped on scale this morning and have put on 2.4lbs !
Why? I hear so many people losing mounds of weight initially starting Keto diet
I've lost only 2.5lbs in a week.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is this normal?
Anyone else have this experience?
Discouraged

2.5 pounds in a week is actually quite a bit.1

Probably water weight. A lot of keto food is salty.0

No period.
Calories shouldn't matter on the Keto diet from what I researched.
Only thing I keep consistent is 70-75% fat Protein 20-25% and carbs 5%0 -

There's your mistake (the bolded). Calories always matter when it comes to weight loss. Keto isn't magic and doesn't defy the laws of energy balance.8 -

Calories always matter. Keto isn't some magical thing that defies the rules. All diets work on the same premise...you have to expend more energy than you take in...it's science.8 -

This.
Many people find that they don't need to COUNT calories while on keto because they naturally eat fewer, but that's not the same as saying they don't matter.8 -

Many people feel more satiated on low carb, thus they eat fewer calories. Not the case for everyone--as previous posters here have said, it's all about the calories.5 -

Well said.
I gained weight this fall eating keto. Ketosis is just another form of energy for the body to run on. If you eat too much fuel, carbs or fat, you;ll gain weight.
That being said, if you lost 2.5 lbs in your first week of ketosis and regained it in the second week, it was probably mostly water weight. Your calories may be too high and you can adjust it, OR just give it another week or so and see if there is any change.
Also, measurements and before and after pictures often work better. People can become smaller/more compact without losing a pound. In the Low Carber Daily group there are a few threads of people's before and after pictures. There are a few where people did not lose for months, some actually even gained a few pounds, but they are noticeably smaller.
I would take your measurements, take your pictures, make sure you have a minimum 250-500kcal deficit (if wanting to lose 0.5-1 lb per week) and then keep going. Give it a bit more time.

I did lazy keto (what you're doing, not traking calories ) for a long time and didnt move down in my weight at all, no way of eating is the magical answer for weight loss1

This is a huge misconception with keto. That you can eat 5lbs of bacon and lose weight like crazy. Not sure how it started but i have 2 friends who still believe this and both are still obese. Even in keto you need to create a deficit.
Keto tends to make you feel fuller but you should still log what you eat if the goal is weightloss.
I did keto a while back just to see what all the fuss was about. I found i couldn't eat much(i don't like meat or most fats, i basically lived off salmon) and my poo was oily which put me off pretty quickly but it definitely kept me from eating too much.
No matter what the diet, pill, or lifestyle change, you need to reduce your calories and it's best to do it in a way you love so you can maintain it for life. My brother loves low carb and that's how he's maintained. I love pizza and that's how i'd love to maintain.. Salmon is also pretty fantastic hope you're back on track in no time!0 -

Keto is 70% fats 25% protein and 5% carbs, your body will not go into ketosis if you have too much protein. I set my macros for keto % just today and today is my first day of having correct keto macros.1
