The struggle!

For being someone who has lost a lot of weight (at one point I had lost 120, currently at a maintained loss of 80) I feel like because I won't do it the way I did before (hcg, 500 calories a day) I know nothing about what to do now. Ugh! The struggle is real. I have no grey area, I either eat nothing or everything.

I know the feeling!!!! Due to verrrrrrrry bad habits... I lost 90lbs. Unfortunately I didn't keep any of it off and gained way more than I lost in the first place. Every time I try to start up again I do well for a few.. then either I talk myself into not eating or eating everything just like you said. I "started dieting up" again last week and so far have done REALLY well with NOT eating everything but also eating a good amount. But the real test is if I stay that way. I totally understand your struggle.0

Heather - did you just get done with Phase 2 of HCG? I am done with my 6 weeks maintenance on the 25th and then I do one more 23 day round of HCG.1

I just started hcG at my doctor's recommendation0

The earlier 120 lb loss on 500 calories a day was not done using the tools of myfitnesspal, unless you had a different username for that. For now, find your BMR and your maintenance needs. Eat somewhere between those every day, and make sure you use the tools of myfitnesspal. This is not a diet. This is an education in how to live.2

This happened to me too all the years I went on restrictive diets. I would come off and then overeat on the things I restricted. I learned zero about maintenance.
This time no food is "bad". Some food I limit because it doesn't satiate me for long or its too high in calories for the nutrients. BUT nothing is eliminated just limited.
It took me a couple of months to figure out how to moderate certain foods. I learned chips cannot come in this house in a big bag. I can purchase one single serving for a particular meal. I'm not big on sweets but I do have 100 calorie ice creams and I purchase single serving of hershey's kisses (10) once in a while.
Nuts & cheese (the other things I overate) I'm able to have larger portions in the house and I'm able to eat limited amounts.
The difference this time is my end goal. It's not weight loss, it's maintaining my weight loss. So I have to eat now while losing with maintaining and focus on a sustainable way of eating.
Hope some of my experience helps!
