INCREASING SPEED under the bar. SNATCH, CLEAN

Options
What has helped you. I'm trying a new technique that's working. Picking up the bar, hold it by your hips, get on your tippy-toes and then get under it. Have y'all tried this?

I jump on my power cleans, it's the way I learned the lift.

Your bar speed comes from two places. The initial pull off the ground and your hip opening and shrug happening at the same time. To help you get under the bar to catch in a squat, I recommend jump squats. Jump up as quickly and explosively as you can and land in a squat then come up. If your not doing Burgener warm up I would suggest you start.

To work on getting under the bar on your snatch quickly, try snatch balances.

Yeah, I've been focusing on power cleans and power snatches the past couple of days. It's takes a lot of practice but I'll get there. Thank you.

For most people, speed under the bar is going to be lmjited by their pull and the position it puts the bar in. If the bar is in the right spot, getting under it quickly is fairly simple, but it the bar swings away from you or is looping, its very hard if not impossible to catch it low, this applies particularly more so to the snatch than the clean, as missing cleans behind is less of a problem.

Tall snatches or muscle snatches.... Listen to Burgener.... the video below reeeeally helped me, especially the second drill starting with the bar on your thighs in a squat position, more applicable to the snatch than a clean. but that was me and you may be different.

Thanks a lot. I will definitely watch that video. I feel like I'm getting better but now it's becoming more of a mobility issue when it comes to the Snatch as my arms are extended above my body. Thank you for your response.
