Generally I've found folks appreciate things they like personally most. Say a guy likes chocolate getting him chocolate, a guy likes art getting him art stuff, etc. You can always wrap it in some valentines themed paper or similar if you'd like it to be clearly for valentines day as well.2

Most guys I know aren't fussed by Valentines Day....that being said...nudity coupled with ribbons go far (even if it is a cheeky cop out )

Give him something that shows you listen to him, value him, and know what he likes. It could be big or small, bought or made, or just gift-wrapped, as some above have suggested. That doesn't matter. It just has to be personal, thoughtful, and targeted to the receiver. In fact, small thoughtful gifts are far more intimate than big ones.4

Around here, putting on a little skirt and heels, making him drinks, flirting my face off....maybe a nice steak......4

We're all different, I for one am fine with just getting a bag of skittles. But this is the gospel right here.2 -

I made my husband a gift basket full of his favorite things one year. New head phones, jerkey, candy, new watch, just some stuff to fill it2

I'm sure whatever it is, it would go wonderfully with a nice steak2 -

The hubs and I go out to dinner and exchange 2 cards: one nice, sweet or romantic, the other naughty, funny, etc.
I also buy a nice sexy dress and other things to wear...
Last year, on a whim, after dinner we walked across the street to a pool hall while waiting on our Designated Driver.
That was so much fun! Shooting pool in 6 inch heels and a barely there dress made things quite interesting0
