On a 1500 cal diet drop your carbs to 5% and that will be 20g.

Most ketogenic dieters (below 50g of carbs per day) go with moderate protein depending on preferences and exercise goals. Usually somewhere between 15 and 25%, with more active people going as high as 35% or so.

Mine is at 20%, or over 70g of protein.

Try a TDEE calculator to figure it all out.

    Hi,
I have 60 pounds to lose and have tried every fad-diet there is. I have decided to try Ketogenic! Has anyone had success on keto when all other diets or methods have failed? Medication definitely is why I gained the weight to begin with, accompanied by over-eating from the meds. Any help and feedback is appreciated.

Hi. I have been on the keto diet on and off for several month. At first i stayed on about 7 weeks wss losing 1 1/2 lbs a week. I was thrill. I gain a blast of energy and felt great. Then fell of the diet. Since then i was not losing weight. But still on the diet hoping that eventually I'll fall in place. But there is a product called ketopia which will give you a push in the right direction. I'm gonna order mine this week

One thing to be aware of is you want to be tracking NET CARBS, not just pure carbs. For example, setting a 1500 cal diet to 5% carbs will show you 20g carbs. You'll almost certainly eat more than that, which is why you need to track fiber and subtract fiber grams from carb grams (this gets you to net carbs). Body doesn't absorb fiber, so those carbs are "free!"

I've successfully adjusted my protein, fat, carb amounts for a 1500 calorie Ketogenics diet thanks to directions found on http://www.ruled.me
The next step for me is to configure the Diary to do the effective carb calculation (carbs - fiber) based on database entries. I found a fabulous snack "Powerhouse Superfoods - Keto Luxe" (on Facebook if you care), and it has 8 grams of carbs, but 4 grams of fiber but the Diary does not take that into account so my Diary makes it looks like I "over carb" when I eat these.

Is there a way to configure the Diary to calculate effective carbs?

All of this info and more is in the low carber daily group.

Configure you MFP for net carbs: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10057456/so-which-is-it-total-carbs-or-net-carbs

I'm not sure if the group is private. You might have to join before you can see the discussion.
