First of all, don't lose hope! Keep some photos of a thinner you out where you can see them and maybe even hang your dress where you can see it every day as well. It helps me to have more mirrors around so I can see myself and remember I don't like what I see and that is why I am committed to losing weight.
Second, you need to focus on exactly how much you need to lose in order to fit into your wedding dress. Do not worry about getting back down to what you "used to be" just yet, let that be a long term goal to reach after you accomplish fitting your dress.
Healthy eating in the proper amount of calories is important, so keep listing all your foods on myfitnesspal. Don't forget the "empty calories" in drinks that have no nutritional value. Swear off anything but water and coffee or tea with no calorie sweetener and maybe low calorie creamer.
Exercise daily, even if you only have time for half an hour of walking. Try to walk places you can go up stairs for added benefit. Weight training will help to keep your metabolism up, so try to do some every other day as well.0 -
Don't give up. I know how you feel. A LOT can be accomplished in 4 months if you shift gears. This is an excellent website, but you HAVE to log everything you eat. Set a realistic goal, perhaps 1/2 pound a week and take one day at a time.
I'm about your height (5'8) and was 172 at my heaviest. I'm now down to 154, pushing for 145. If you can't get to a gym, find other ways to burn calories. Park farther away. Take the stairs. Do 'desk" push ups and every 30 minutes, do about 20 jumping jacks.
You can do this! :flowerforyou:0 -
Well you have four months so the biggest motivation needs to be that you have to start now! I'm not sure if you have access to a gym or what you like to do but there's many options!
Right now I don't have access to a gym so I'm doing workout DVDs and running on a treadmill at my house. If it wasn't so hot I wouldn't mind running outside though.
I guess really you need to also try to not get discouraged. Don't set a goal too high and think about this being a lifestyle change rather than just getting fit for the wedding.
All of this may be obvious, but I am only trying to help! One day I wasn't feeling like going to the gym as I had planned and my friend said "Don't think about it, just do it!" - and that really stuck with me. Now if I don't feel like working out, I remember that line and just go through the motions while letting my mind wander about other things so that it goes by much faster.
Hope this was somewhat helpful! Good luck!0 -
Greetings,
I hear what you are saying absolutely. I hear that you are focused on the size of your body, so in my humblest words, try and focus on how the strength and power you are gaining. That my lady is so sexy. Say to your self in the mirror "Baby I am sexy" say it over and over again. Your attitude is apart of the Metamorphous. No Matter what, keep pushing and use us as your support. Remember, this is a life style change, not just a weight loss challenge.0 -
Getting married constitutes a big life change. It is understandable that you’re a little overwhelmed with facing unwanted weight gain right now, but you will never regret that you did.
I remember the time (a long, long time ago) that I was in your position, but rather than tackle it when it meant losing a manageable amount of weight, I excused myself. Then after we got married, we had three kids come along just a few years apart, and I rationalized that it was all just 'baby weight' and that it would come off when I was no longer pregnant or nursing. I was fooling myself.
I certainly wasn't doing myself any favors by ignoring the problem, and neither will you if you don't act. Act NOW while you're healthy enough to exercise vigorously - before you get winded halfway up a single flight of stairs. Act NOW while being fit and healthy isn't a dream for a year or even more away, but maybe a couple of months away. Act NOW before the doctor tells you that you need pills for high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes. Act NOW before you’ve spent a lot of money on clothes in sizes that make you sad and feel worthless. Do this for yourself, and the ‘you of the future’ will thank the ‘you of today’ for acting.0 -

Thanks I couldn't agree more with saying I am gorgeous no matter what in the mirror my mum used to make me do this when I was a stick insect. xx0 -

Wow!!! What a fantastic quote. xx0 -
Are there trainers available to consult at your gym? If so, maybe they can advise you about adjusting your workout routine. Sometimes changing what you do can help break out of a plateau. For example, if you usually walk/run on a treadmill then try an aerobics class instead. Or, maybe add more weight or different exercises to your strength training.
Also, artemisacorn is soooo right! Do it NOW. If I had done that 10 years ago I would not be fat and unhappy now! Lol, at least I am doing something about it NOW.
Good luck and work hard and remember you are a Goddess (as we all are)!0 -
