Are my scales completely wrong?

Just weighed myself and the scales say 14 stone 13 lbs and when i convert it to just lbs on the scales it says 208.6 lbs.
BUT when i searched on Google lbs to stones it says 208.6lbs is 14 stone 9lbs!
I'm confused! :s
Does anyone know what the problem is here? Is it my scales that are wrong?

    Weigh yourself a couple times. Some scales require you to step on them in just the right way, on the right surface, etc. It's only a difference of 4 pounds which is well within that margin of error.

    I've had one scale that i step on and it read 126 and then i stepped on it again and it said 121. I stepped again 121. Again 121. I just go with the number it reads out most as i'm not concerned with it being 100% accurate.

    There are 14 lbs in a stone, do the maths.

    If you do the math, 208.6/14 lbs it equals 14.9 stone, the .9 doesn't mean 9 pounds. If you divide 13 lbs/14 lbs it equals .9 - so you are 14 stone 13 lbs which is equivalent to 14.9 stone.

    It's the same if you were converting inches to feet - 1' 6" = 1.5', the .5 doesn't mean 5"

    Sorry I'm useless at maths so working out the above would never happen!! Thank you for pointing that out and proving that I'm stupid not my scales! ;)

    The other thing to note is that the scales are doing some rounding for you, as 14st 13lb = 209lb not 208.5lb so it has rounded up.

    I've had exactly the same problem this morning - readings between 97.5kg and 100.6kg. Looking at that difference though it seems more likely that the scales are FUBAR than anything else. Maybe they got too much punishment previously...

    This is the method I use to convert stones to lb and then lb to stone

    12st 10lb ignore the 10 and times the 12x14 = 168
    Then add the 10 we ignored 168+10 = 178lb

    178lb divide by 14 = 12.71 take off the whole number 12.71-12=0.71 So 12st
    Times the bit to give the lbs 0.71x 14= 10lb
    So 12st 10lb

    Why do we still use stones and lb? But not matter how hard I try 269lb does not mean anything until I convert it!!

    In fact that is one reason why I don't purchase scales off the internet.
    When I bought mine it was the first one that gave identical results on three attempts.

    Which means you may have bought one with built in logic to adjust it's reading to the last if the reading did not change by some amount. Mine seems to be about 3/4 of a pound. If the change is not more then that (+/-), then the last result is given.
