Hi. How many calories does breast feeding use up. Not sure what my calorie intake should be. I have about 2.5st to lose. My baby was born on 9 December.

Do you know how many ounces your baby eats per day? Each ounce of milk has about 20 calories in it, so it takes at least 20 calories to produce that much, not counting the calories burned in the physical processes of making it. Most estimates claim that if your baby consumes 15- 25 ounces per day, you'll burn 300- 500 calories to produce that much. It's recommended that you don't eat fewer than 1500- 1800 calories per day while you're breastfeeding to avoid the risk of not being able to produce enough milk. Congratulations on your little one! Mine was born 3 days after yours, on the 12th of December0

Mine was the 1st! I have two older ones too. I'm trying to lose just over a stone now. It was about 20 pounds in total I think, and I've lost 5 now.
