Trust Fitbit Calorie Adjustment?

I've read on here just when comparing the calorie burn a machine gives you (like a treadmill or elliptical), people will go with what their Fitbit states instead of deleting that and entering in the exercise manually (obviously one or the other, I know both would be repetitive). Today, my 50m walk on the treadmill gave me a calorie burn equal to what my Fitbit says so I'm surprised. Trust or take it at half value? I really want popcorn tonight. ☺
Edited to add: 5'7, 134lbs, it gave me a burn of 228 calories for 50m at 3.5mph with a varying incline.

How long have you had your Fitbit? They can take some time to get to know you, so if it's brand new, maybe go with 50% of the cals, especially if that's what you've been doing already.
You might be one of the lucky ones whose stats match up when using a machine.

From what I found the wrist devices are not really that accurate when it comes to burned calories. Since it doesn't know your metabolism it might be off by 25-60% if not more.0

I've been using mine since Dec 26 so almost a month. I'll probably stick with 50% to be safe but was amused today when it lined up!0

I rode the stationary bike today and mine was an exact match0
