My boyfriend and I have a subscription to a CSA. Every thursday we get a large box of seasonal fruits and veggies that we plan meals off of (tonight it was summer squash, green beans, mixed salad greens, grapefruit, strawberries, cherries, nectarines and carrots.)

So our weekly shopping trips are quite small and just to replenish "the regulars":

    Old fashioned rolled oats
    Quinoa
    Dried black beans
    1/2 and 1/2
    coffee
    butter
    lemons
    limes
dried pasta (about once a month we'll buy some to have on hand for lazy nights)
    tortillas
cheese (whatever looks enticing when we shop)
    onions for cooking
    olive oil
    eggs
    Kashi cereal
    almond milk

We also sometimes buy frozen veggie burgers as an easy weeknight meal.
